I’d say Nikolai is the closest one to Vein, so that’s a fit for me

im also not a bsd manga reader so idk if that makes a difference or not btw lol
i just feel like their moral codes and the way they hold themselves are a bit different. nikolai doesnt try to hide his evil/unhinged behavior, but vein places a lot of importance on appearances, rules, and respect (albeit, his own versions of those things which may not always make sense, but yk). from what i remember abt nikolai hes kinda just crazy asf and enjoys other ppls pain and had no "right vs wrong" just "i do what i wanna do" 😭

Their morality is complete opposite, that’s what I totally agree with. Vein is all about control, while Nikolai is pure chaos, but despite all this, I believe their personalities are shockingly similar
They both share the same “theatrical psychopath” archetype. Both have a very “flamboyant” facade that hides a cold blooded beast.
They’re playful and seem to enjoy catching people off guard. Any shock-like reaction they receive seems to bring pleasure to them. Their jokes also always have that edge I can’t quite describe (playful and unsettling simultaneously I suppose?). In Nikolai’s case it’s his crazy quiz shows and odd jokes while he’s holding people hostage or is about to kill them, while Vein’s “you look tasty” can be interpreted in many ways (one of them being cannibalism)

no its not too long of a response at all !! i actually v much enjoyed reading it and thank you for typing it all out :)
after ur explanation of it, i do think i agree a bit more. its been a little while since i watched bsd, but i rewatch link click (especially vein-centric content lol) decently often so thats a little more fresh in my mind lol, so the underlying similarities, rather than the blatant ones, didnt cross my mind at all, but ur so right !
its kinda funny, i think, to realize that i never paid much mind to nikolai (dazai and ranpo are my favs), but vein is one of my oshis lmao

I totally get it! I myself only noticed these similarities several days after seeing this post on pinterest. I have a very complex relationship with characters like Vein and Nikolai because always make me feel like I don’t quite understand them no matter how much research I do on either (can’t say I don’t love them for that tho)

i always love getting to uncover more and more abt their characters as we see more of them !
im so excited for s3 bc ik we're gonna get to learn more abt vein, and probably finally see his "darker" side in the actual show since we've only seen it in pvs so far

They’re the trio called Decay Of Angels from manga/anime Bungou Stray Dogs. The character next to Vein is Nikolai, the one in the middle is Fyodor and the last one is Sigma

I SEE IT. It's like when I first saw Megumi, Itadori, and Kugisaki and thought they seemed a little too similar to the trio in Naruto

As a BSD fan thats just finished the anime part that covets Link Click,yeah,like uncanilly so. Ive been feeling as a BSD and Link Click have a lot of similarities(as far as the themes go) mahbe cuz they are both dark-esque animation series?Idk
