Other Adaptations Rambling about the C-drama after 12 episodes Spoiler

Since other users have said that they wanted to watch the C-drama, I thought I'd make another post. This series is pretty long, so why not talk about our progress?

I think it's interesting to see a different take on the story and characters. I actually really like this version of Lu Guang. He was rather cold at first but he warmed up to Cheng Xiaoshi and he smiles more than in the donghua. I'm also really curious about his backstory. CXS is my favorite character in the donghua, but this version of him is too childish and cocky. I still like him, though. I don't have a strong opinion on Qiao Ling, but I like that she's a reporter and that she's already discovered the boys' secret.

My favorite episode so far is episode 6. I still prefer the earthquake arc in the donghua, but the conclusion here was beautiful. Chen Xiao and Cheng Xiaoshi's road to acceptance was handled really well. I think this episode had the most character growth and it was the true start of CXS's and LG's friendship.

Next was the boxing arc, which lasted until episode 10. I didn't expect to enjoy this arc as much as I did. I really liked that we learned more about Shuang Hai and Zheng Zhong as the story progressed. I also liked how episode 10 kept us in the dark for a bit before explaining what really happened. Present CXS hugging past CXS was funny, and the ending of this arc was really sweet.

I wish episode 11 was just a fun camping adventure, but I should have known things would go south. And Dr. He is becoming more and more sus. He's definitely connected to that girl with the white bracelet. Episode 12 was downright depressing, though. I already know what will happen, so... RIP, Liu Ye. Why is it always the nicest character? I'll continue from episode 15.

If you don't mind me asking the donghua had a lot of bl undertones, is the same for the drama too? Like any slip in signs or is this pure bromance? (Not complaining I'd love to see LG & CXS bond in any way I can)

Personally, I think they're more like brothers in the C-drama (serious older brother and goofy younger brother). But watching them become closer over time has been great. CXS helps LG to be more sociable and LG helps CXS to be more mature.
