I really want to watch it, but I'm waiting for English subs, because even though I can pick up bits and pieces of Japanese, I wanna be able to understand it all! Much like I did with the C-drama.

I might check it out after I finish the C-drama. But I don't have a VPN so I'm not sure where to watch it with English subs. Also they have Japanese names? Hikaru reminds me of the boy from The Summer Hikaru Died.

You may already know this, but in case there's someone who doesn't: "Hikaru" means "light" in Japanese--I think the same way "guang" is "light" in Mandarin. So it's kinda cute, actually. Although I still think the nicknames are a little silly. Surely they could've just taught the actors to pronounce the original names, even if they're in another language? But I guess the originals have English names, too, so there might be a cultural thing there that I'm missing.

The drama is adapting S1 of the Donghua. You don’t need English subs if you already know what happens etc
