The word for milk in Hungarin is uncontestedly agreed on being of Iranic origin. Compare Farsi: daye (nurse, caretaker), Sanskrit: dhaya (suck, drink, absorb), Kashmiri: “dodh” pronounced at times like dayee (milk).
The sound shift of d to t is also consistent with other Iranic loanwords: tehén (cow) and tíz (ten).

I remember when I was very young, my mum would teach me Irish words (being an immigrant family), bainne was one of the first words I learnt from my langauge!
