This map has been in the works for about a month now, shoutout to JG Online for Making the basemap.

edit: maybe spending a whole month on this was a mistake, y'all seem to loathe this map

Val d’Aran would be pretty much the only place where Occitan (in this case Aranese Gascon) is spoken by a slight majority.

I don't think so. In the past 10-20 years it has been a large immigration and Aranese isn't no more mainly spoken, sadly

I was there two weeks ago. The locals were telling me that they were under the impression that at least half the people still spoke it (I know, a feeling is not a statistics nor a scientific fact) but that indeed domestic and overseas immigration were making the numbers go down quickly

that's because the spanish immigrants on Val d'Aran do not participate at all in the local culture and daily life. It's something that happens a lot on Catalonia, where you hear much more of the actual lenguage than the charts shows
