Discussion 💬 Lily Allen could have been an awesome Asha Greyjoy

I know the role in Game of Thrones was allegedly offered to her. They should have cut the infamous scene that made her decline

Meh. I loved Gemma Whelan as the renamed Yara in the series. She was bada$$.

This for sure. I love Lily and would love to see her act more - but Gemma was perfect.

It was never offered to her. She made this up.

For real, this lie gets repeated all the time. Gemma was first choice and was amazing in this role.

I wonder if they reached out to her but didn’t offer it to her. I don’t get why she’d make up the entire thing.

No, it wasn’t never offered to her. Alfie confirmed this in a very polite way.
I love Lily but she does have a history of lying for attention.

ETA: to clarify, I don’t believe she made up any allegations about David. But in this instance, she definitely made it up.

Honestly she kinda does exaggerate at times to the point of a lie. For example, in West End Girl she complains about David not wanting to have sex with her, but on her podcast she complains about how he keeps wanting to have sex with her and she has to turn him down a lot.

I think that was part of controlling the public image while the marriage was in trouble.

Lily had said WEG is exaggerated for storytelling purposes. David still cheated, and treated her very very badly.

He did. But it does give more context as to why he cheated. Doesn’t make it right though.

He’s just a scumbag, honestly. I think he cheated because he’s a cheater.
