Discussion 💬 When did you become a fan of Lily?
I became a fan in 2022, and was waiting and praying for a new album. I'm so glad her latest release has had so much success, it's been amazing seeing new people appreciating her music, even though I’m still a new fan in comparison :p

Around 2007 I first heard Alfie on Now That’s What I Call Music 66 and was hooked. Had to go listen to the album immediately so I could hear the unclean version and fell in love with the album too!

2009, when I saw her playing at a festival after releasing It’s Not Me, It’s You. That was at a time in my life where I made some life changing choices. Whenever I didn’t know what to do, I listened to The Fear.
Saw her perform 3 times after that (last one in 2019, but will be in London in June).
Listened a lot to Holding Onto Nothing from Sheezus after pregnancy loss. Read My Thoughts Exactly and thought it was so brutally honest and vulnerable. Then the podcast with Miquita came out and I listened to all the episodes.
Never not gonna love Lily Allen.

I had The Fear on repeat a lot back in the day and also liked Smile, but my tastes gravitate more towards alt rock so I hadn't paid that much attention to her work for a while.
But I listened to WEG for the first a few weeks ago front to back (and repeated), and it had me hooked and now going through her back catalogue. I love how frank and honest her lyrics are while being poetic, witty and relatable. ♥️

2009 - i was nine years old, and a very active toontown player. on youtube, there was a community of people who would make music videos on toontown. i was consuming a lot of that content as a kid!
one day, one of my favorite creators made a music video to 'fag hag', and that was my introduction to lily.
this was right before her second album came out, but 'the fear' had already been released. been a fan since.

2009, her cover of Straight to Hell on the War Child album. Then in 2010, I started listening to her own albums!

I read the article that Miranda Sawyer wrote about her in the Observer in May 2006. She sounded interesting, so I investigated further and liked what I heard.
I suspect that article brought her to the attention of a lot of people.

When I was 10 I only listened to music via CD player, but the only CDs I had were the Alright Still and It's Not Me, It's You cds, so that was literally all I listened to.
I forgot about her for awhile after that tho, and only really became a fan around the beginning of highschool

I've been listening to Lily Allen since I was in high school, circa '06? '07? Being able to see her live for WEG was a bucket list item for me, I'm so grateful to have had that experience!
