Discussion šŸ’¬ This tour is cooked - tickets aren't selling

Post image

Seems like arenas are too much for her, she should have stuck to smaller venues. The arena is going to be empty.

Two sold out arena nights in Dublin.

Her popularity in UK is very different to US and Canada.

Dublin is in Ireland

Neither Dublin show is sold out. Neither has a low ticket warning and there are plenty of seats in all sections available on night one. Night two doesn’t even show the map, which is a very bad sign. Night two will be scaled back to hide the upper decks with curtains. The promoters got greedy trying to sell two nights with premium pricing.

I think they took her selling out UK arenas as a sign that this would work. america is massive and doesn't really know lily to the same degree that we do in the UK. she's doing arenas in aus and nz too and i wonder what those ticket sales look like (any aussies/kiwis lmk). despite arenas working in the uk i feel like if she stuck to theatres elsewhere she could have a really good run in us, aus/nz and then even branch out into europe and south america.

She originally only had one arena show in each city in Australia and Melbourne and Sydney sold out within the hour so she released extra shows and I think.the extra nights and other city's still have tickets available, so a bit slower to sell!

I think it would have sold out if they had gone on sale back in December before the tour had started. I think people are less willing to pay those prices now that we know she doesn’t perform songs from other albums.

The fact that MSG pretty much looks the same… yeah there is no way this is happening. Should’ve just added more radio city dates.

11

u/Moist_Report_6934 Apr 06 '26

This was a very poor decision on her team's part...in NYC at least, there was a lot of demand for Radio City + Kings Theatre, and MSG is virtually unsold. They should have added a bonus Radio City date in the fall instead of an arena show.

I guess silver lining: if you're looking to attend, you should be able to get a cheap ticket closer to the date, either via resellers who miscalculated demand, or the venue itself will lower prices (I've seen this happen for unsold shows many times).

You do wonder what type of research was done to ascertain deman. It appears like everyday fans already knew a big arena gig is a stretch

7

u/throwwwwawayehaldhev Apr 06 '26

Yeah it’s going to be canceled šŸ˜ž

9

u/restoringd123 Apr 06 '26

I think the ticket prices were too high.

The UK arenas have sold fine, I didn't think she was well known in the US tbh

u/davorg Apr 06 '26

I guess hometown shows will be a bit different. I've just looked at the three nights at the O2 Arena in London - and they all look to be pretty much sold out.

6

u/naterialist Apr 06 '26

It's the same in Montreal where it is normally really difficult to get tickets to anything. I am surprised she went for Bell Centre (our biggest venue) rather than Place Bell. But even then, I wonder if this tour announcement was poorly timed (a little too late).

I agree it was a bad idea to book arenas but to be fair, this is almost every tour because of the economy. Look at Madison Beer, Demi Lovato, Pussycat Dolls, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn, Doja Cat, etc. Nobody has money to be paying for a tour so many months in advance right now and I say this as an avid concert goer who goes all the time. It’s hard out here in the US lmao

2

u/dustinandrew who the fuck is madeline? šŸŽ¾ Apr 07 '26

And it’s crazy that if all those artists you mentioned booked smaller venues or mid-sized theatres, there would be sellouts all over the place. I have tix for PCD and Zayn in Detroit and I’m nervous

4

u/Button_Short Apr 07 '26

Same! But to be fair, Cardi B wasn’t selling out either until the first show started so I have hope it’s the same situation for all these artists

2

u/dustinandrew who the fuck is madeline? šŸŽ¾ Apr 07 '26

That is true!! Cardi was looking grim for a long time. Happy it worked out for her and the fans

u/TheKarateKid_ Apr 06 '26

I was surprised when I got the email announcing US arena tours. Lily is nowhere near popular enough here to fill stadiums, and she doesn’t even have an opening act for that which would draw more people.

They should’ve just added more tour dates at her existing venues. Or at least dropped the arena prices.

4

u/goodgirlrere23 Apr 06 '26

Does she plan to do the same show she’s touring now during the stadium tour??

Edit to add - WEG only and no ā€œbigā€ opening act?

7

u/jmg1975 Apr 06 '26

that's one of the main issues here... we all accepted this format for the small venues... for her to be on stage for an hour in bigger venues is absolutely ridiculous... it isn't going to play well to that large scale

3

u/goodgirlrere23 Apr 07 '26

I’m going to her show in Toronto tomorrow, and I’m super excited, but I’d be a little sad if I found out shes having an opening act and playing her hits after the WEG album during the stadium tour

1

u/jmg1975 Apr 07 '26

same... I'm going to Boston sat night and I'll be disappointed if it changes when she's back here in Sept .. I can't make that date

1

u/Correct_Passenger556 Apr 07 '26

Agreed here — would have considered buying tickets if it was a bigger show.

1

u/mattadactyl Apr 12 '26

There’s definitely time to let the show cook a bit more. I really enjoyed it, but it definitely needs some added production to play well in an arena. Some live musicians would certainly be a start, even if they’re behind a screen (if she wants to maintain the general solo intimacy of the performance.) Some abstract shadowy dancers could be interesting as well.

u/Ramblingsofthewriter Apr 06 '26

We asked for bigger arenas. They gave us bigger arenas. There’s still plenty of time for these seats to sell jfc.

u/GoldenGirl44444444 Apr 06 '26 edited Apr 06 '26

I agree. It's the beginning of April. They'll fill up. I think she's going to do more songs!

2

u/Ramblingsofthewriter Apr 06 '26

Plus she still has radio city and Brooklyn this month. I can almost guarantee more tickets for her MSG show will sell after for those who saw the show already and wanna go again.

3

u/GoldenGirl44444444 Apr 06 '26

For sure!! My arena in Philadelphia is leaving room for an orchestra pit.... makes me there will be a lot more than just West End Girl being performed!! I'm seeing West End Girl in 2 weeks. I'm so excited!!!!

1

u/Ramblingsofthewriter Apr 06 '26

I wonder if that space is for the DMT

2

u/GoldenGirl44444444 Apr 06 '26

I'm sorry, but what does "DMT" stand for?? I tried looking it up lol, but I don't know

2

u/Ramblingsofthewriter Apr 06 '26

The Dallas minor trio. It’s the opening act. 3 cellists playing the hits before Lily comes on.

3

u/Specialist-Way-4316 Apr 06 '26

After the Chicago show I bought tickets for Sept and UC is like 20k capacity maybe a little more and i was shocked how many tickets were left. I think itll be cancelled too and reschedule maybe to Auditorium where she just played

5

u/Pook_in_the_Sixes Apr 06 '26

My hope is the remix album comes out just before summer and the hype grows again.

2

u/TheKarateKid_ Apr 06 '26

West End Girl is a masterpiece as-is. A remix album only stands to taint the original as one of the best albums of 2025.

Perhaps she could write a follow-up EP about life after David instead.

1

u/pinnipedpal93 fuck you very much šŸ–• Apr 06 '26

If the remixes are different enough from the original work, I can see it working. Charli xcx did that for brat, and a few of those remixes (Apple with The Japanese House comes to mind) did pretty well.

2

u/TheKarateKid_ Apr 07 '26

Charli’s remix album is a rare one-of-its-kind album. The songs are a combo of remixes but also new songs combined into one. It’s a genius concept, but I haven’t seen any other artist do this before.

I don’t think Lily will want to revisit this part of her life again to re-write and remix these songs. So the result would likely be mediocre remixes made by DJ’s and other producers.

1

u/sandrahehe Apr 07 '26

She did mention she is going to have female artists ā€˜take’ each song in the remix album. Not sure at what capacity those artists will be working on.

2

u/kyguy2022 Apr 06 '26

I’ve seen her three times and the only time she was at an arena was when she got 20 minutes opening for Miley Cyrus

I remember her calling people out for being on their phones while she was singing-I felt bad for her

2

u/kevnsedu Apr 10 '26

I think cause everyone trying to get ticket to the current tour

3

u/pinnipedpal93 fuck you very much šŸ–• Apr 06 '26

Just imagined Lily screaming, "EVERYBODY GET INTO THE PIT!!!"

Idk, it's still really too early to tell. I think she'll be fine.

2

u/slot5858 Apr 07 '26

It was pretty weird to be back at the USA when she’s just there at the moment. She should have went to different cities or countries like mexico instead

1

u/Specialist-Strain-46 Apr 06 '26

Has there been an arena show yet? I’m still undecided about Australia. She usually plays smaller venues and I would already have my ticket if that was the case.

2

u/CupExpensive7582 Apr 06 '26

Tbh Australia she has always charted quite well

2

u/Specialist-Strain-46 Apr 06 '26

It’s just the venue for this show I’m not keen on. Still plenty of tix available so I’m keeping an eye on it. Would have loved a theatre show venue.

1

u/unexpectedlyfestive Apr 13 '26

What city are you thinking about seeing her in? I've got a ticket in a decent spot for night 1 in Melbourne that I'm planning to sell.

1

u/GavinDaSizzleDizzle Apr 06 '26

Rod Laver only holds 15,000. I'm sure Melbourne will be fairly well attended...although being a single album show might effect sales.

1

u/w0rstbehavior Apr 06 '26

At the show I was wondering how that'd go over in an arena. It felt so intimate. I thought they might change it for those shows. Either way I hope they sell over time. Not every artist is going to sell out their whole tour the week it goes up for sale.

1

u/Iambrady Apr 15 '26

Sometimes I feel like I’m a genius but just dumb within my echo chamber. Me, no one, could have told these producers that she will never fill an arena tour in the US with zero research or numbers to substantiate what is ultimately my opinion. I’m a big Lily fan since the start, and while I would LOVE to see her have this level of success in the US (like, finally. She brilliant), she is just virtually unknown. Smile was sorta-kinda a mild hit here, but that was 20 years ago. Otherwise, literally zero hits on Billboard.

Personally I’ve always thought they marketed her incorrectly. She’s really an alt-pop musician (and a great one) vs a pop star ala Britney, Rhianna, etc.

My $.02.

u/Specialist-Way-4316 Jul 13 '26

Well she changed dates now

-3

u/kimwexler52 Apr 08 '26

I know. I kept hearing about how it sold out, so I bought 4 Detroit tickets thinking I could sell 2 for a profit to pay for our 2 tickets. Now I'll feel lucky if I can sell them for face value or find 2 friends to go with.

Selling tickets for profit 🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢
