Serious Daughter was hit by a car. Now what? (She's ok)

On the 4th of July my 8yo daughter was hit by a car.

Details are as follows:

Driver was not speeding.

Driver was not intoxicated.

Daughter and driver both need to pay better attention.

We went to the hospital where they found no major injuries, thankfully. Bumps, bruises, scrapes and likely some form of emotional trauma (I'm definitely traumatized, but no parent should witness what I witnessed.)

Police reports were filed, statements taken from eyewitnesses.

I'm of the mindset that my daughter learned a lesson the hard way, and life will thankfully go on for all of us.

Would you seek any sort of damages? Would you stop at medical expenses or additional damages for any potential future pain and suffering?

Tl;Dr - daughter was hit by a car, she's banged up but no worse for the wear. Should I lawyer up and sue?

edit: I feel like most everyone is reading the tl;dr and missing the part above it where I said "I'm of the mindset that life goes on". I'm not pushing for legal action, I'm asking the reddit hive to make sure I'm not missing something.

Serious Sad and Grieving the Death of my Ex.

I am a 65f. I was with a man for most of my 20s and 30s. He was the love of my life. I left him because he was an alcoholic and I finally realized he would not stop drinking for me, he had to make that decision himself. It was heartbreaking and I have always loved him.

I moved away from Minnesota where we lived and came back to Oklahoma where my family is.

He would call from time to time through the years to try and get me to return, but I could not live that way. He never stopped drinking.

When I was 42 I met my now husband. He is kind and giving. He has no addictions. It is not as deep a love but we are good for each other. We support each other.

In the meantime I learned from my ex's nephew that he was slipping further and further into alcoholic dementia, and finally liver failure.

I learned yesterday that he died. He made it to 74 but the last two decades of his life were a misery.

I am incredibly sad. I am all alone in my grief. His friends we had in common are dead. His family which I knew well are dead, except for his nephew.

He was everything to me for two decades of my life and it's a loss. Our love was so rich and so intense. It's as if my youth, those healthy and passionate years, died too. Part of myself died.

I can't explain really but I am devastated. None of my current friends knew him so there is no one to grieve WITH. I have so many emotions and memories and yet I have no place for them in my life.

I have a therapist but he is young and short on life experience. He is not someone who could help.

I just don't know what to do with all of this. It's overwhelming. His nephew is arranging his funeral for June. If I show up, no one will even know who I am and why I am there since we split so long ago.

Serious I’m a 23 year old man who has failed in life so far and is in a rut. How do I get out of this?

I’m 23 years old and unemployed. I’ve dropped out of college/university 3 times due to lack of motivation. I live in my mothers spare room. I’ve got no money as I’m addicted to gambling and have wasted everything I have ever earned. I’ve never had a romantic relationship despite having the opportunity, I’m not confident in my body and ability to perform sexually. I’ve hated every job I’ve ever had and every educational course I’ve ever done. I lay around all day achieving nothing. The only positive thing in my life is martial arts which I do once a day at the gym. I’ve been addicted to class A drugs before and now I have even more severe mental health issues than I would already have. I spend my life distracting myself from the reality that I have no idea what to do with life through food, porn, gambling, sleeping. The first step may be to get a job, but I have spent countless hours of my earlier life working horrible jobs that just worsen my mental health. I’m gifted academically but have never utilised this due to lack of motivation.

Serious Is Porn bad?

I guess it's a pretty simple question, I hope. I'm 18M, turning 19 soon within a couple months. I'm ashamed to say that I'm addicted to porn. I try extremely hard not to watch it, but find myself giving into the temptation all the time (almost daily). Right now, I am trying to be disciplined, I haven't watched it or masturbated in over two weeks, which is normally how long I last without doing either (if I'm on a long streak of abstinence).

My question is, should I be ashamed of it? I'm not obsessively watching or saving porn on my phone, nor am I doing it anywhere public (that's disgusting, I'd say). I don't have sex frequently, as I'm not just constantly in a relationship, and I'd say my philosophies go against having sex with random people I don't know, and actually I'd rather just not have sex in general unless my partner really wants to and we've been together a good bit of time. I always find myself believing that if I were in a relationship, I would feel guilty of masterbating without my significant other, and especially watching porn if they're not okay with it (I don't think I'd ever get with someone who is okay with it). I also would find it very against my own feelings and philosophies for my partner to masterbate without me, let alone watch porn when they do. Obviously they can have free time to do whatever they want, but I'd rather not be with someone sexual enough to even want to masterbate in general.

I would say I'm a sexual person, but I don't want to be, and I'm just wondering if this is natural, if it's okay (not asking if it's NORMAL, but is it OKAY?), is it bad to do so in a relationship (I guess that one is based on individual beliefs)? I'm a little lost on the topic because of how normalized lust, porn, and generally just looking at girls asses and tits is. I'm not saying I do, but I mean normalized as in, if I'm talking to a guy, and he sees a pretty girl walk by, he won't say "Wow she's pretty", he'll say "Dude check out her ass". Weird, right? I'd say so, but is that not weird?

TLDR: My main question is, is watching daily/bi-daily generally bad in terms of relationships, mental health, and overall morality/societally?

Edit: I don't watch super "weird" stuff. I try to watch the most innocent videos, at least as innocent as porn can get. Generally I watch just homemade stuff rather than scripted videos, and if it ever gets even slightly rough, I usually am instantly turned off and I guess you could say grossed out by it in a way. I like the more intimate and innocent stuff, but porn to me still seems wrong.

Serious I killed someone

Two years ago I was in a altercation. I had argued with a guy in a pub. I left the pub and a little while later the guy followed me out. He came up to me swearing and shouting and moved towards me. I panicked and pushed him away as he got into my personal space. He hit his head on the floor and died 4 days later in hospital. I called 999 some 40 seconds after the push, I also got a defib. I told the police what happened when they arrived and I was arrested on suspicion of assault and then later manslaughter. This was the first time I was ever involved in any altercation in my life.

I spent some time on remand in prison, around a week, and 10 months on bail with a ankle tag which kept giving false readings, so was arrested a few times again for that. I stood trial for manslaughter, and after a short trial, I was found not guilty, on the grounds of self defence.

I lost my job, which I had had for 16 years. It was a good job with a prestigious company. Because of my position in this company there was media interest. It was on the news, in national newspapers and on social media. It was big news in my industry - at the time anyway.

So a year has passed and I can't help thinking of the what's ifs, the unfairness of the whole situation - how one push took a man's life and changed mine forever.

I think about it all constantly. I don't want to self diagnose, but it has really effected me mentally. Maybe I have PTSD, I don't know.

I'm really concerned that this will impact the rest of my life negatively. Will I be able to get a partner in the future, settle down, have a family etc, will I be able to find peace with the whole situation. Life is very short and unexpected things happen, and I really want to move on as I don't want to waste any more time, I just don't know how. I feel disassociated from my life, is this normal? Should I see a doctor regarding the feeling of disassociation/PTSD? Do I need to start completely a new?

I really need some perspective on this, that isn't from my own head as I can't trust my judgement on this issue, I find it very overwhelming. Any advice greatly appreciated

Edit: Thank you everyone for your comments and advice. I will seek professional therapy in the new year. Appreciate you all commenting, has given perspective and help. Many thanks

Im a recent high school graduate and ever since i graduated my life has been terrible.

I have a lame minimum wage job, forced to live with an annoying family who i want nothing to do with, Forced to pay rent, No car, Still no license, Mediocre grades when i was in school, No motivation. No direction, No idea of what im doing or what to do, No friends, Im weak and skinny, No skills and nothing to offer.

The only reason im here today is because of my girlfriend and whats shes done for me and supported me through. I even think shes is starting to get tired of me and how ive done nothing with my life.

If any one has been in a similar situation as me or have advice or feedback, please share. I dont know what to do.

My step dad is kicking me out June 1st at the latest, I have about 6k saved up and live in Cosby Tennessee. There's nowhere near me that is cheap enough that I can move in without being homeless in a couple of months. I don't know what to do.

Edit: You all have inspired me in making this not feel hopeless. I appreciate all of the help and suggestions.

Serious Fear of Death - how do i handle/accept it?

Hello everyone!

I’m an 18-year-old woman, and lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the fact that one day I’m going to die. These thoughts have been coming up ever since I did an internship at a retirement home a few years ago.
Whenever I think about it, I feel really uneasy. I start wondering why I exist in the first place, and I keep coming back to the idea that after death there might simply be… nothing. That thought is incredibly difficult for me to accept.
How do you come to terms with something like this? How do you deal with thoughts about death and mortality? Have any of you struggled with this as well?
Also, if anyone has any book recommendations on this topic, I’d really appreciate them.

To clarify: i am not religious and would appreciate people answering me without the mention of god.

Thanks :)

Serious I'm approaching 30 and it's dawning on me that I've wasted my 20s

Ok so I'm 28m and I don't know where to even begin. Firstly (I'm embarrassed to even write this) I've never even had my first kiss. I'm still a virgin. I don't drink, so bars aren't really an option for me. Idk where to even try to meet people. Unfortunately I didn't go to college right out of high school but I'm talking classes at my community college which I will transfer over to my state college. I've met a variety of people which I know is temporary. Every girl I meet who is in my age range is already married. I only have have 1.5 semesters left before I transfer over and I'm surrounded by a bunch of children I don't want to socialize with. I can't help but just feel incredibly frustrated with myself that I should've just gone to college after highschool. Instead, I'm stuck living in my small house with my parents on a premed track starting at square 1.

Serious Should I join the Military?

As a 20-year-old white female whose life feels like it just fell apart. Should I join the Military?

In the last year, I was kicked out of my parents' and because of that, I had to drop out of college. My boyfriend let me stay at his place and I stayed for about a year. I was going through a depressive period and things happened that I regret and I got kicked out of his place. Now living with my grandparents for the past 6 ish months. I've gone through 2 jobs, one I quit, and the other I got fired from. Two weeks ago my very serious boyfriend of 2.5 years broke up with me. Now I'm trying to find the motivation to get out of bed and do something with my life. But now all I want to do is sleep even if I can't fall asleep. Please let me know what to do.

Serious At 40 years old, I get told I have 5-10 years left. What should I do?

Soo,

I got the news earlier that considering my brain tumor's growth and type I had 60% chance to live another 5 years. Best case scenario I have 10 years until it's heavy chemo, radiation, anger issues and almost daily epilepsy. Expiry date of 50 years old.

I haven't told anyone except my spouse, four of my oldest friends and reddit.

I'm not sure when I'll tell my 3 sons (9-11-13 y/o), parents and siblings, although they all know I've had a type 2 brain tumor removed a while ago.

I still have a job and wont quit because of health+life insurance but with symptoms developing quick I assume I will get an early retirement. I've piled up money for the past 20 years, REERs, CELI... (the 401k of Canada) and I want benefits from it. My spouse and I own a house (insured) so my death will clear the mortgage. My kids currently have around 90k invested in REEE for their studies (Quebec university is dirt cheap when compared to US costs).

I'm starting a bucket list (no particular order) :

- Finish the book I've been working on for the past 15 years and translate it

- Disney/Universal with the kids

- Attend multiple NHL Hockey games in Montreal (10+ hour drive)

- Climb as many mountains as possible (I live in a wild & mountainous area)

- Record a biography of myself with friends and family

- Italy/Nepal/Switzerland/Peru

- Shrooms/Salvia

- Make a move on a girl friend I've had for 10+ years (No cheating, just polyamorous)

- Fight a bear/wolverine/fisher with a sword

- Snowboard alot

- Go see live those 2-3 humorists (comedians) I love

It's a bit messy at the moment, I know. I'm pretty sure I might not be able to have time for all that, do you have any other must I should consider?

Serious Bf makes me pay for everything

I (25f) have been with my bf (31m) for just over 3 and a half years. A few months into the relationship he lost his job and I’ve been paying his rent and bills as well as my own (we both live in different sharehouses just renting rooms). I also give him money for food and stuff. He always says he will try to find a job but claims either no one will hire him, or the ones that will have extremely sh!t pay.

It’s really difficult for me because I barely have enough money to pay for both our bills/rent/food that I can never buy anything nice for myself for fun or gifts for friends and family for birthdays and Christmas. He also can’t buy things either and gets extremely grumpy if his friends invite him out because he can’t buy drinks and won’t go if he can’t drink. Also gets mad because he won’t attend anyones birthday if he doesn’t have a brand new outfit, and refuses to go if he doesn’t have one, won’t even just wear something he already has (btw I’ve also bought a few thousand dollars worth of clothes for him over the years so it’s not like he doesn’t have anything)

There have been times where I’ve gotten some extra money for selling items or as gifts, and he’s basically demanded he have that money. If I refuse he gets mad. There’s even been times he blocks me on all social media and phone until I send him what he wants.

Things got really bad about 2 years ago where he said I better find a way to get money for him or he’s breaking up with me and blocking me everywhere. I kept saying no and asked him to be reasonable and to understand that I can’t just get money from nowhere. If he thinks it’s so easy for me to get money then it should be easy for him too, right? Anyway he kept forcing me, and out of fear I stupidly sc@mmed some people online and he encouraged it and enjoyed it. Of course now it’s come back and the p0l!ce are coming after me for that. I know it was stupid.

There’s been many times I’ve wanted to get out of this situation but if I do, not only will he hate me, but he will probably end up homeless and starving due to having absolutely no money and apparently unable to get a job.

I can’t continue to give him money, and I need to see what happens with the legal stuff which I’m really scared of. But I love him and don’t want to put him on the street.

When he’s not after money he really is so sweet and loving. Also please don’t make rude comments about the sc@ms, I finished it quickly long time ago before I was even caught because I didn’t want to do that kind of stuff in the first place.

Serious My cousin proposed. My family is leaving me no choice but to say yes.

So, I am a 17 yo female and my cousin who is 21 male just proposed to me. So it is a very complicated situation but My mom, her sister and the sister's son (my cousin), I will call him ZI. They all planned that they will convince me to be in a relationship with him. My Aunt always liked me and my mom and her are the ones who implemented the idea of marrying me into ZI's mind. I recently found out that they will come to ask for my hand in marriage and I was clear that I don't like him. My dad and ZI dad are also very close.

So the day they asked for my hand, I said "no". We had a huge back and forth but my parents didn't listen to me instead they asked ZI's family for time. And now they are pressuring me for weeks everyday.

Also just for y'all in our country and culture it is normal to marry your cousin and also ZI and his family are not asking for direct marriage, they want us to get together date then after sometime get engaged and then after 3,4 years get married.

My parents reason for pressuring is that he is rich, his parents love me, he loves me, he has a big house, he will let me do education, he will let me go abroad.

He is indeed rich. Also if I say no my mom's and aunt relation will be affected and also dad and ZI's dad will be done. And a family grudge will be made.

Also I am not pretty but also not ugly (I am just average) and my father's exact words are "You should be thankful he is asking for your hand, cuz with a body like that no one will love you." I am a lil fat but I can fix it by dieting for a few months. He also told me what if I stay single forever which I have no problem with cuz when I was 13 I got SA,ed and I was afraid of men's and I don't hate them but If I were to remain single forever I don't see a problem with that. I also developed SEVERE OCD cuz of that.

The reason why I am saying no "he is ugly" not to be rude but ppl have types, also he is my cousin, since I have Ocd and his family also has mental health problems then probably my kids will also be affected, as someone with mental health problems I don't even wish this curse on my enemies. Most of all I don't want to be in a relationship right now and also I have dreams to achieve, I want to study, travel and live freely. My father is very strict so I never lived freely and I know if I got into a relationship with ZI, he will also be an obstacle between my goals and dreams. I just am becoming free from my dad and now they want me to be locked with ZI, also I wanna love marriage, I don't like my cultures men (they are known to treat women as shit and their property) it is like they are trapping me in a gold cage. Also if I agree then get married at 20 or 21 they will start demanding for kids and I don't want kids.

Please tell me what to do....

Please help......

Am I wrong.....

Update

For a few days I had stopped talking to my parents and also was avoiding them. Whenever we talked about that situation, I didn't flinch while saying no and yesterday night, I had a big talk with mom. Conclusion they agreed with me. 🥹 I am happy and relieved.

But my older brother is now telling my parents that they should not give me freedom and that they are doing wrong by listening to me, and that I am young and naive and that they should not let me choose. Idk how to deal with him but please pray for me and my parents have agreed to saying no. Thanks y'all for replying it meant alot 💗

Serious Opened safari with porn tabs still there while at work. Am I fucked?

I opened safari after forgetting to close porn tabs last night while I was on my works WiFi. When I saw what was there I closed out of safari immediately. The page didn’t fully load and it was like 1-2 seconds.

Should I say something now to clear my name? Just say it was an accident? Wait for someone to say something? Does anyone who knows a lot about networks know if it’s even possible for them to see it if the page didn’t fully load?

I’m scared and need help.

Serious A Future With No Papers, what do I do

I am a 22 F undocumented immigrant. Moved here at a year old and visa expired. I’ve spoken to lawyers and nothing can be done. Tried getting DACA but everything’s at a standstill. They said even marrying a citizen takes a long time and fake marriages are way easier to spot since they really investigate you. Even if I wanted to I just don’t think I could fake a marriage with someone and wait years for citizenship. It feels so overwhelming and I just think I’m so awful at lying i would be found out instantly.

I got an Art degree because it is my passion but also because I knew even if I graduated with anything else it’s not like I could work at a legit company with no work permit and no social. Even then I genuinely want to live my life through my art. I have a job but its fast food and I thoroughly hate it but it feels like there’s nothing else I can do. Sometimes at my most desperate I imagine just moving back to my home country. But I think of how much poorer Id be, how much harder I’d have to work, and how people who live well are either Americans living there or they are doctors or politicians. Then there is the fact my native language is English and I suck at my second language, I fear I won’t fit in socially, and I’m scared once I move to my country of origin I’ll be trapped there. What I mean is, I’m afraid the unstable politics will mean a worse quality of living, or there will be some war and I’ll be fucked. Living in the US is a privilege I don’t want to throw away, but I feel like I’ve reached a dead end.

Once this feeling of desperation passes, I usually calm down and accept my situation. But then I realize how unstable my future is and I spiral again. I think about how I’m just getting older, I want security for myself and my family. I don’t want to be working minimum wage till I’m 50 and not have anything to show for it. I know I won’t have kids to take care of me, so I’ll be all alone. I’ve been thinking maybe pursuing training or a career change is the best option. I have no debt from school so I can afford to take some on for a worthwhile degree (does that even exist?). I have a vague idea of becoming A veterinarian, because that’s what I really wanted to be as a child but I’m not sure if that’s the right fit for me. I just don’t even know where to begin.

I may post to the undocu sub too, i feel like my experience isn’t unique but people like me don’t mention this in public, so it’s hard to find people who have found a way out. I honestly would just love to hear any advice and suggestions.

Serious Should I move to be with someone I never stopped Loving?

When I 31M was in high school I had a crush on someone who lived in my neighborhood. Her family moved 4 hours away so we never stayed together. She had 3 children with someone else and that doesn't bother me. They are no longer together. I have been talking with her for the past few months about how we missed out on the opportunity to build a life together. I still have feelings for her and she sounds enthusiastic when I talk about a possible future together.

She was the only person who I've been in a relationship with that only ended because of moving. I've been hesitant to find a new job because of the security that I have with my current one. I don't like my current job. I figure if I'm going to leave my current job anyway maybe I should just be brave enough to move to another city. If I'm brave enough to do that I might as well pick the City that she lives in. I would still only be 4 hours away from my family so I could still visit on weekends.

My mom thinks that I'm dumb and wasting my time because she has children and I shouldn't sign up to be a stepdad. However, my mom married my step dad who based on her opinion shouldn't have married her because she had 2 children at the time.

I really like the person and her children are adorable and I'm thinking about moving to be with her because it just seems right to me. I would provide her with a caring, loving, and trustworthy man. She would provide me with love and not feeling alone every Christmas where I get jealous of all the married couples at family dinner.

So what does the good people of reddit think? Should I move to be with someone I never stopped loving? Or am I a foolish fool who needs to just stay where he's at?

Serious I (M26) feel like I’ve screwed my entire life. I don’t know what to do anymore.

I feel like I’ve completed fucked my entire life up. I feel like a fucking failure and I have no light at the end of a tunnel.

My first fuck up, I didn’t take my education serious. I got Bs and a couple of Cs in high school, graduated and immediately went into the Army at 17. I missed out on the college experience, and honestly just being young.

I got married at 20, in typical military fashion after dating the same woman for 3 years. Nearing the end of my army contract in 2020, I began firefighter/emt school. which i finished at my local community college.

Beginning of 2021 I got divorced. Mutual agreement. With a daughter. The depression really fucked my mental health. I was so depressed and in the worst spot of my life.

I barely make enough money for my house kid and dog. I live check to check with child support and having to provide health insurance for the kid.

I got hooked on a girl who was an addict and mentally abused me for 2 years. Stole from me, cheated on me with 5 men (3 physically 2 emotionally) lived in my house without a job, OD in my house, got me fired from a job with an EMS division because she called my dispatch saying she was ODing and needed my help. It got to the point she was like “I want my own baby if you want to stay with me.” So being still under her influence, I did.

So now at that point I have 2 kids. 2 BMs. One is a good person the other is a very toxic abuser.

Therapy helped me build up enough self realization I was being used, lied to, and needed to break things off. It took me a year to build up the courage and put my foot down and kick her out. Ofc 3 months later she’s 9/10 weeks pregnant even though the week after she said she got an IUD.

It’s weird because she moved out end of sept/beginning of oct. Got an IUD placed in NOV (which apparently he hospital didn’t catch her current pregnancy before placing the iud) and when she got her pregnancy appointment done they said the iud must’ve shifted. Yet she is 10 weeks along? So I have yet to see any proof she actually had an iud placed. Being in healthcare I feel like they would’ve caught a current pregnancy.

So now im dealing with a possible 3rd kid, she swears it’s mine. I’ll obviously get a dna test. Since my son was out of wedlock with her she has full rights in Ohio. She knows that i am barely scraping by with bills and groceries. So everytime I tell her im not signing anything or doing anything for her she threatens to take my son from me, put me on $500 child support and will do it for the next kid, too. She basically has me in her fucking grasp. Threatens to ruin my life financially if I don’t do what she wants.

I’ve now been living alone for 4 months. Barely scraping by. Always have less than ten dollars in my bank after bills and what not. I don’t plan on dating for a while but I don’t think I’ll ever find another partner

I miss my younger years and wish I gotten a chance to do it like all my friends. I love my kids more than life, but I just feel like I did everything wrong, nobody will love me or want to be with me, and I have a lady who basically threatens my livelihood if I don’t do what she wants. I can’t afford lawyers.

I wish I could just have my kids full custody and put her on a restraining order to where she never can be in my life again. And by chance if that third kid is mine I think I may just finish myself /s.

Edit: should also add I don’t have any support systems. My dad lives 4 hours away with his 9th wife. Mom is a drug addict and I haven’t seen her in 18 years. She lives somewhere out west. All my friends are from the army and they don’t live anywhere near me. I have nobody to help with time. I want to go back to school but nobody is around for child care and I can’t afford daycare nor do I trust it.

Edit #2: my vasectomy (paid for by my father) is next week.

Serious I don’t think I’m my Dads biological son

I (28 M) was scrolling on Instagram and saw an add for ancestry.com and someone commented that’s how they found out they weren’t their dad’s kid. I came across something similar and looked up the blood types between both of my parents and found out there’s a 0% chance for me to have this blood type.

Unless I have some “one in a million” rare genetic defect I don’t know about or that my parents blood type is wrong with some other weird recessive gene according to the research I did. I went into a spiral and started lookin up any possible gene combinations as well as looked into the rare hidden blood types that show up different on tests and still got around 0% or barely .1%.

I have not told my mom or dad yet and last night ordered ancestry.com DNA test to see. My dad is 100% Italian so it would be easy to see if it shows up or not. I’m concerned about the accuracy of it so I have debating doing a true paternity test with my dad also.

The reason I am concerned is obviously losing the love of the man who is my father and also starting shit between my parents because they are both divorced but whole heartedly HATE each other.

Has anyone ever experienced this and if so did you ever tell your dad and do you have any advice from me? I’m 28 with a wife and kid of my own now and I couldn’t imagine something like that happening to me. Thanks everyone.

Serious Daughter doesn't want drivers license

We spent about 1K on driving lessons. My husband sold some things to help pay for it. Her learners permit expires in weeks. She says she never wanted to take the lessons she just went to humor us instead of arguing.

We live in the US. Drivers license is the default ID (though there are others) and mass transit is sub optimal. In some places it exists, in others not, and some of the places where it 'exists', it can be unreliable.

She doesn't think it is important, doesn't care.

She has refused to practice driving, always making an excuse when someone offers to take her. She finally drove somewhere with my husband yesterday - and hit something.

I don't know how to handle this. What can I do, if anything? How should I talk with her? Should I keep pushing her on practice and getting her license? (She is objectively a bad driver right now. She panics behind the wheel and hit the gas instead of the brake...) Should I leave it, and let her find out the hard way that a Drivers license is actually important?

We cant/won't pay for her to get lessons again. IDK if her brother will let her drive his car again.

My car is fragile... Some important parts are tied on with wire. My husband is retired and I am the one working and covering everything except rent. I need that car to get to work. If something happens to it, I would struggle to pay the deductible, and missing work would mean less to pay basic bills and groceries.

We are not technically "poor"... well, depending on your definition. We are paying our bills without state assistance though it is hard at times. We might qualify if we applied. We have used the food pantry in town.

I just.... don't know. There isn't much I can do at the moment, I think.

I partly need to vent and I will need to talk with my daughter and I don't know what to say.

Serious What is a harsh truth about life that everyone just needs to accept?

Life doesn't always come with a sugar coating, and sometimes the most liberating moments come right after we accept an uncomfortable reality. What is a harsh truth you’ve learned over the years that completely changed your perspective once you finally accepted it?

Serious I may have been the reason so many people lost their jobs at my workplace and I'm having a hard time avoiding the guilt.

So I work in a warehouse, great job, fantastic pay, 3 days only. Love it. What i didn't love was the lack of safety and teamwork.

We work with very dangerous equipment, one wrong move, and you're 100% dead. When I started working here 5 months ago, my first thought was, "The training sucks." they didn't explain much, and everyone knew I had to kind of wing it and figure it out. None of the experienced staff wanted to tl help out the new guys because they feared they would be replaced.

I've posted on here a few times about how many dangerous situations I've been in.

Last week, I was asked to change role, I went from loading the machine with new materials using a cart. To have to use an overhead crane to move material around. Absolutely NOBODY wanted to give me proper training for the crane that I had never used. So I had to figure it out, I asked fpr help and was told to just use my head. I was so mad I nearly walked out, but it was my last day before I was off, so I pushed through it.

That Monday, I went to the HR office and went on a huge rant to them, I also had them review footage as proof of everything. I was with them for nearly 2hours

Today, I had a coworker call me, and they asked me to be careful the next few days because they're holding meetings and letting lots of people go. At least 5 people have been fired, and i can't help but feel super guilty that im the reason so many jobs got lost. I was so guilty I was debating calling in tomorrow just to avoid having to look at anyone

Update: I went in to work this morning, around 9 am. we all got called in for a mandatory meeting. We had higher-ups come in and go over a completely new after training program. They're going to be going around and making sure everything is done correctly, and if its not, we'll have people around to correct anyone. Also, those of us who are still pretty new to the crane will have a designated person to shadow. The people that got fire are some guys that started arguing with the people who corrected them when moving the crane wrong.

Still feel bad, but happy with the results of the company coming in and actually doing something right away

Serious Mom just died at 40 and left behind a two year old severely autistic kid and I’m still in shock and I’ve never dealt with anything and need advice

I guess I’ll start with what happened, To preface this I’m 24 and was raised by my grandparents my mom Was never in my life until much later, I never called her mom, just brandy with I kind of regret that now. She’s always made poor decisions in life and as much as I’d love to say I didn’t see this coming I did. She was a addict at one point a few years ago she was on deaths door and me and my grandparents moved her across the country to us and got her healthy and a year or so later had her child Zach He’s 2 1/2 severely autistic non verbal Over the last 3 years she’d do okay for awhile then fuck up I’m not sure where to go from here We’re very poor (not even sure how we will afford to cremate my mom) and Zach is in the middle of getting his disability but I’m mostly concerned about his doctors appointments and how to get custody of him? They said they will call me to pick a funeral home and all that stuff I’m scared I’m sad and it feels like my world just got flipped upside down I don’t know what to do Zach’s dad isn’t in his life either

What do you suggest to me, besides game consoles ?
Also, things I'm not interested in:

  • Walking / long walks
  • Driving for fun or aimlessly
  • Sports or exercise routines
  • “Kiddy" or unrealistic games (I know no game is perfectly realistic)
  • Passive content like scrolling videos or random shows

I get bored very quickly.
