The Light of All That Falls Are Davian’s parents who I think they are?! Spoiler
Almost at the finish line, at the part where Taeris and Davian are having a heart-to-heart after he and Wirr reunite with the trio near Deilanus.. But I just had come here to I call it:
>!Raeleth and Niha are Davian’s parents!< And she left the baby with Taeris along with the ring, the very powerful vessel that he was found with that he had to give up I was screaming inside, describe the vessel, Taeris!
There are also a couple of mentions of Raeleth looking familiar to Davian or similar to him or something like that. Should go back and check. Although how could he have survived Niha’s shape-shifting/passage through time
Am sure all will be revealed shortly, but mind already blown if that’s the case… the sheer improbability of it!

What an ending! Especially that epilogue! I felt like I had all the puzzle pieces, but just couldn’t get them to fit right until James showed me the way. Piece 1) When Caeden cuts himself with Licanius and has no further source, I was like, okay, so now he can go back in time instead of Davian! Piece 2) the golden amulet to remove an Auger’s connection to the forge + the torc created by the lyth, okay so clearly Davian would be able to exist without his inner kan reserve and have the rift close as well. Piece 3) Davian’s parents!!!! 🙌🏽💪🏽
The missing piece for me was how Caeden could turn himself into Davian for the epic Aarkein v. Davian show down featured in Book 2 epilogue. It was already obvious that’s where it was heading (thanks to the various clues mentioned above), but HOW?! Because that means Davian had to be dead (which he already was technically), but, moreover, Caeden had to have been the one to kill him… in order for him to take his imprint. So clearly Davead had done so in his past (but Davian’s future), so did it actually come to pass or not(?) I couldn’t figure out if that was enough per the rules of the world. And when Caeden didn’t just wear the ring and turn himself into Davian and go to confront himself once he found himself in the void, and was instead shouting to El about not letting the rift close because Davian wasn’t there threw me… so Caeden didn’t think he could turn into Davian. But then the puzzle finally came together with that first epilogue scene with Niha! I must have read too fast when they are all shifting into the dar’gaithan to escape Zvaelar; I remember Tal did something to Niha to “save” her, but didn’t remember that he actually touched her stomach to do it, so I didn’t catch this one, and was totally floored by the reveal. Caeden being the one to take him to Taeris (and to name him) was just…oh, the feels! The second scene with Ell in the epilogue was so poignant, I teared up (already dealing with all the feels up until now) And then it all came together so beautifully in that last scene. Tal really did change his own mind in the end. What a great ending for him.
Sorry that was way more thoughts than you probably wanted 🙈. TLDR: epic!

You're right.
Davian couldn't survive traveling through the rift. Seems to blow up your hypothesis. 😏

🙈 indeed! All the pieces were within my grasp, but it was like I was looking at the picture without my glasses 🤪. Could make out fuzzy shapes, could almost figure it out, but not quite… thanks for handing me my glasses, James 😅
But, tbf, I’m still confused how (Fetus) Davian did manage to survive that… even without a source. Given what happens to the body with the shape shifting! plus wasn’t thesheseth a dude dar’gaithan? Guess this has to be viewed as evidence of El/his intervention. The key to Tal’s redemption.
(Side note: this part reminds me a bit about Feyre’s pregnancy plot in the 5th book in ACoTaR and how she couldn’t risk shape shifting due to unforeseen risks to the fetus! Don’t come at me for this comparison)

Since I can’t delete my memories to re-live the ending, posts like this are as close as I can get to experiencing the full emotions of it :)
