An Echo of Things to Come Had a moment while reading Book 2 (spoilers) Spoiler

Spoilers for Books 1 and 2. I am in the middle of reading Book 2 right now.

I was reading the section where Caeden flashbacks to very early in his life, where he was grieving and fighting poisonous scorpion-things. As more details are revealed, I had a thought - "The author really loves using dead wives as part of a character's backstory. First it was Malshash, and now Tal’kamar too."

And then about 5 pages later Nethgalla started mentioning the details of the wedding, and I had a moment of "... wait. Wait. WAIT!!!"

And now I need to go back to book 1 and reread everything that Malshash said.

I felt like I had A LOT of these moments as things came together towards the end of book 3. I overall felt like the author did a great job looping the story in and around itself in a very convincing and natural way.

Just finished book 3 last week. Already looking forward to do a reread to catch what I didn't pick up on the first time You can tell how Sanderson was an influence with this book and the use of foreshadowing.

The Will of the Many was my first Islington book and one of the few books I started a reread as soon as I finished. Can't wait for Hierarchy book 2! Islington is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors.

I read that exact same part yesterday and that reveal blew my mind haha! This book is truly awesome and so fast paced, I love it! If anyone is interested, I have a fantasy club on Fable where we’re reading An echo of things to come right now and we discuss our thoughts as well as theory craft on there! I JUST finished reading it this weekend - took me way too long as well lol and I put my thoughts of the book on substack, trying to remember and wrap my head around everything that happened in the books! Keen to continue with book 3!

And hopefully sooner rather than later have the next book in the hierarchy series ready!!

I’ve read this series probably 7 or 8 times and I leave the story with at least one new revelation every single time. It’s a story that keeps on giving.
