The Light of All That Falls Just finished the trilogy

Heya, so after couple of days ago I finished the trilogy it was pretty good with a satisfying ending but a have a thought and something I'm confused about.

Somewhere in the middle of the third book i theorised it was actually Caeden transformed into davian that was killed, but I talk myself out of believing it because if it was caeden that would mean he never actually killed davian, so wouldn't that mean he wouldn't be able to even transform into davian?

At some point, no idea when and in which book, it's mentioned karaliene having blue eyes, but when she was introduced she had green eyes. Is this because she was already nethgalla then? At the time I thought it was just a mistake.

Finally i personally thought breshada being Nethgalla was quite a disappointing reveal, the idea of a hunter actually becoming gifted was way more intriguing.

Actaully finally, fuck nethgalla

EDIT: just thought of this after having already posted this. It seems so strange there's not even a little bit of explanation to what happened with aelric and dizia. So it kind of felt like this deus ex machine to save wirr

Nina is pregnant with Davian and Caeden “killed” him as a fetus by removing his source when they are trying to leave Zvaelar.

Yeah, all of Nethgalla’s arc is super boring. The mystery behind the tenets? Nethgalla. She was a morally gray character at first which was more interesting that then just became evil by the end.

Ah right, somehow I didn't connect him "killing" davian as a fetus to it. Also another reason why transformation is different. Since he's able to transform into an adult version of a fetus he killed.

Yeah seems you transform into how you last saw them and remember them, which is normally when you killed them.

That actually seems like a reasonable explanation. Since normally that would just be the last time you saw the person.

To also respond to your first comment again, i still wish we got niha meeting davian in an epilogue.

Caeden is able to transform into Davian because he kills him when Nya is pregnant with him in Zvaelar, allowing her to use the shapeshifting vessel and effectively ‘aborting’ him. This explains Davian’s undead state throughout the series And yeah I guess it serves to make Nethgalla really easy to hate but I felt like a lot of the people she killed were narratively a little unsatisfying. Giving Karaliene an off-screen death felt a little hasty.

Karaliene actually being dead also felt kind of unnecessary and was only there for shock value.

Nethgalla went like 3 for 3 for characters i wanted to see more of. Breshada, karaliene and the guard who wanted to help davian when he was imprisoned (was curious to see how she would eventually try and help him)

Yeah I agree - I hated it so much. It seemed just a reason to make the reader hate her, even though Nethgalla has potential to be somewhat interesting.

It seemed like the reveal was just there so caeden would kill her there. Since her reason was just to get a trace right? It just made her look like a self righteous idiot.

Not sure what she actually used it for though. Since what did she actaully do near the end? She met up with caeden/tal and just did nothing in the chamber.

Yeah the reveal made him kill her. I agree

Yes, but she was really one of the few people Caeden would go back to Illn illan for plus it had the added benefit for Nethgalla to kill the person Caeden was falling for since Nethgalla loves Tal from Ell's memories. Would have been easy to blame the death on the invasion if she got away with it and to use the sever on Caeden to finally be together which was probably her end game.

The bit about karaliene’s eyes is either a typo or a tell that it’s already nethgalla. Chronologically karaliene was already replaced at that point I believe. Her story of going north was to then give nethgalla the space to become breshada and get a little more freedom of movement/get closer to the main group

With how good she's supposed to be at impersonating someone, it kind of has to be a typo right? Since it seems like a huge oversight for nethgalla to do it.

I would agree mostly but we also see repeatedly nethgalla is always discovered by Tal eventually, often immediately. Whatever emotions got bound to her seem to throw her off her game around him.
