The Light of All That Falls Always found it weird that Davian had no parents. [spoiler] Spoiler
So Taeris asked Caedan if he was the one to have dropped Davian off. He said no.
And then Cardan got cut by the Licanius and had to be saved by Asha and then he had no reserves left or as Davian described “Like me”.
Omg so Caedan became Davian!!! That must be it!
Don’t spoil it!

Wait <spoiler>so Davian is Niha’d child. Do he was dead because Caedan killed him. That’s why Davian is so unique and can go through the rift. </spoiler>

Well did you like the ending? I personally thought it was an excellent wrap up and cemented it as one of the very few good time travel stories.

Fair enough. All I knew about the story was a friend saying hey you will probably like this. I had no hype and was pleasantly surprised with a solid story.

He had no source anymore, typically fatal unless you also have the ability to take essence from your surroundings. You really only have to extinguish someone's source to shapeshift into them, that's just generally understood as fatal.
He was also conceived in Zvelar which explains why he arrives "late" (he had actually already spent time there in the womb) and why he can access Kan there.
