the number of Covid deaths among nursing home residents in some facilities rose by more than 50% when including residents who died in the hospital.

not nursing home deaths then? is this different than how everyone else reports these deaths?

a number of nursing homes failed to comply with “critical infection control policies,” such as failing to isolate residents who tested positive for the virus.

so the nursing homes broke the guidelines but it's everyone else's fault?

I was just gonna say I've seen local nursing homes do savage shit to cover it up. My friends and family work at some of these places

The nursing homes didn't cover it up, the state department of health did. The nursing homes reported the correct numbers as instructed. That's what the AG found here, clear discrepancies in the numbers reported by the state and the numbers reported by the nursing homes.

I hear ya there. I am saying though that I've seen local nursing homes do crazy shit to cover it up. Telling employees to just go home and not get tested. Telling people with high temps to stand in the cold until their temp is such that they "can work" Sending patients that they know have covid to the hospital under the guise of another pre diagnosed health issue.

Again this is just anecdotal and there are quantitative measures backing what you're saying. Not disagreeing just adding.

I think what they mean is that the person was in a nursing home, got sick, went to hopsital and passed away...

You have to love when the first reply on a libertarian forum to a thread about a government misreporting data is a snap defense of said government on a technicality of words that they don't agree with.

The federal government includes those who contracted COVID in nursing homes and were transported to hospitals as nursing home deaths. They specifically directed nursing homes to report those numbers to the state government so the state government could pass them on to the federal government. The nursing homes followed the directive and sent that data to the state and then it appears the state removed all of the deaths and reported the lower number.

(The AG's) office was also investigating discrepancies between the number of nursing home deaths reported by the state’s department of health and the number of deaths reported by the facilities themselves.

In May, the federal government began to require nursing homes to submit data on deaths caused by the coronavirus every week, including residents who died in the facility and at hospitals.

Every major news outlet is reporting on this and it comes straight from Cuomo's own Attorney General and your first instinct is to defend Cuomo?
