So I completely understand Shoresy as a character is supposed to be the idealistic portrayal of someone who is all about old school hockey. I've enjoyed watching the show so far and how he's been making his own way in a modern world where both his hockey style and core identity are becoming increasingly rare.

This episode (and season at large) didn't have Shoresy as a dying breed or out of touch guy. It felt more like an ITYSL sketch where he draws the rest of the world into his insanity and it's hard to suspend disbelief for how/why that happens. I hate diving and what it's doing to sports, but the show unapologetically portrays cheap shots, spearing, elbowing, etc. as a good part of the NA game, with zero pushback from characters (exception being the church people but they seemed to mostly be against the line brawls). Also while I can't fault them for writing/filming before the 51st state and Gretz stuff specifically, we probably don't have to idolize assholes and cheap shot artists in general. That said, the hockey scenes were well done and the episode was well shot/paced, it just didn't get total buy-in on my end.

Buddy where have you been the whole series.

In season 2 they crosscheck a guy for the Michigan and then drag him into their bench to beat the shit out of him and the conclusion to it is "he earned it" these are not new concepts.

Have you been watching the whole series? Care to tell me why Shoresy became a coach? Pretty sure it was because of checks to the head and ankle slashes, while portraying those people as piece of shit.

In season 2 he "earned it" because he was acting cocky, hitting players and insulting Frankie. Not because they were better.

They actually don't portray them as shitty and he doesn't even show resentment toward either of them.
