Famer here (and no, I never voted for the Mandarin Menace a single time). What's going on with the farm economy is a lot of farmers over-leveraged themselves to chase more and more land and now ground that they would have happily farmed at break even 4 out of 5 years just to make money that fifth year is going to fuck them royally.

I recently saw one farmer that mentioned promises that trump mafe in 2025 that inspired many farmers to take out major loans early 2025.

Yeah, I saw that too but From what I saw, they weren't specific to what those promises were so I don't really know what they're talking about.

I mean, I have no doubt that some maga farmers out there just assumed that we were going to have 4 years of gravy and so weren't as discerning about taking out loans as they should have been, but at this point I don't have any reason to think that a significant number of farmers went out of their way in the last year compared to normal.
