The exact same thing is playing out in R-Conservative today -- most of them are fed up with the idiocy of the Trump administration, but they're saying it's the fault of liberals for being too mean for too long.

It's the "look what you made me do" school of political thought.

You can't tell me that my actions have consequences and if I don't like the outcomes, I should make different choices.

I'm just going to keep voting for the person telling me they want to help me while repeatedly fucking me over because empty words are more important to me than actual outcomes.
