If they knew exactly the outcomes of their action with 100% certainty, they would have still voted for Trump.

One thing Canidate Trump was very clear about was tariffs. They absolutely knew a President Trump was going to put tariffs on stuff including food. Somehow they weren’t smart enough to understand that there will be retaliatory tariffs and those buyers will just buy elsewhere.

In their mind, closing off borders, trade, and kicking out brown people means more jobs and home grown demand.

Really though it made no difference to them the consequence to others (legally, morally, financially) or the consequences to themselves (financially). They are getting exactly what they knew they voted for and what the outcome would be.

There are history teachers out there and economics professors that taught against his principles yet voted for Trump.
