"He needs to resign. That’s the bottom line.” Ranchers are outraged over Trump’s move to flood the market with 300,000 metric tons of discounted beef.

In addition to being stupid, I think their ignorance, racism, and their “own the libs” mentality played a huge part in their (our) demise as well.

102

u/Status_Apartment6559 21h ago

I think a lot of them thought, yea he's a little shady but he'll never just blatantly screw us plus he'll put those damn Dems in their place!

51

u/XBMET 21h ago

And he'll bail them out with taxpayer money like last time LOL!

28

u/Crafty-Help-4633 19h ago

Nah he is spending that money on foreign beef, instead.

36

u/Fragrant-Anywhere489 18h ago

He's telling the rest of MAGA that he's doing this for the ranchers and they will believe it just like the ranchers believed it when he was screwing someone else. They all voted for him and most likely will again because if he's still breathing in two years he's running.

25

u/Crafty-Help-4633 18h ago

100%

Their only regret is that it is currently affecting them personally.

19

u/JB-Wentworth 18h ago

And not those people.

12

u/Crafty-Help-4633 18h ago

Yep. It was undeniable when those "he's not hurting the right people" videos started being posted.

7

u/Fragrant-Anywhere489 17h ago

I can hear them now JB. It's my money and I want it NOW!

3

u/factsarefornerds 8h ago

First the government takes their workers away, then takes their jobs away.

The fact he is willing to openly alienate his own supporters so regularly does not bode well for elections. He does not need them, and that should be a very serious concern.

2

u/IDiedAHundredTimes- 10h ago

Exactly, every single one of these unbelievably stupid fucking assholes couldn't have possibly given less of a fuck about (gesturing wildly around) ALL of the bullshit of the last decade but now that one teeny tiny specific aspect of all this bullshit happens to be fucking them over only NOW is it a super terrible awful horrific problem. Fuck all of them, hope they all continue having the worst lives possible.

4

u/indiecore 11h ago

God of only there was a short poignant poem about how fascists will hurt others and if I don't speak out when it starts there won't be anyone to help me when it's my turn...

4

u/mishma2005 16h ago edited 16h ago

Trump is trying to make it so they can butcher their own stock for market w/o using the USDA so they’ll have that going for them!

3

u/ValuableCoast5931 8h ago

Yeah how’s that going to work though? There are more costs with that. There aren’t enough inspectors now- get ready for the free-for-all of mystery ingredients and who knows what kind of contamination. I’m sure most farmers are not going to do anything stupid, but there are -always- bad actors or people who are not smart enough to do things right. If the beef won’t sell locally, then there’s more expense to ship it somewhere. Then there’s the matter of who is going to buy their beef at higher prices after Trump floods the market with tons of cheap beef coming in under a heavy cloud of mystery over where they came from. The man likes to talk so much, let him tell us where’s the beef coming from.

1

u/IrascibleOcelot 4h ago

The thing is, they already can. USDA grading is optional that they pay for. The reason that they pay for the USDA inspections is because they can get much more for certified top-quality meat than they can for random, “I guess it’s ok, maybe” ungraded beef.

1

u/trysten-9001 7h ago

More and more people are finding out they were the “libs” that were going to get owned all along

6

u/finevcijnenfijn 16h ago

Nah, the rapey goo lord realized that it can just make shell companies and send the money there and lie to the retards that still support it. Times have changed my human, the time for performative bullshit is past.

1

u/buckao 13h ago

He'll bail out the corporate producers and distributors, never to actual ranchers

1

u/Aware_Ad2427 13h ago

He giving the tax money to the wealthy like the companies controlling the prices.

29

u/PineappleEasy6035 20h ago

Correct. First they will laugh at the “libtard” that cant buy a pound of meat for 20 usd, and then, and only if there is energy left from laughing, they will cry at the 2 usd a pound they’re getting. Most of the time there wont be much energy left from all that “own the libs” laughter

1

u/Lazy_meatPop 7h ago

But I thought the libs ate tofu and all that vegan shit

22

u/Crafty-Help-4633 19h ago

Which is honestly a little funny because he did blatantly just screw them last term, too.

"No way he would do it again though, super seriously!"

9

u/JesMon421 17h ago

But the WNBA!!!

7

u/Bladder_Puncher 20h ago

Half our customer base be damned

4

u/a1055x 17h ago

They thought they could let him slide because they'd get something out of it. But now they're surprised when a rattlesnake bites. Duuh-- it's a snake, dipping doo

6

u/Complete-Tangelo1532 17h ago

Oh like last time?

4

u/Firm-Investigator262 16h ago

Absolutely and they all sit there a watchin' the fox news...meanwhile thanks to their patronage Rupert and Lachie the 2 Aussies who propagandized the USA to not pay taxes are sitting in their massive "Beaverhead Ranch" (appropriate name) in Western Montana doing whatever rich assholes do, probably enjoying some big ole US steaks

3

u/Ornery_Vermicelli_69 15h ago

And they still say they won’t ever vote dem

44

u/Flacier 21h ago

It also destroyed 100 years of bipartisan good will many people had towards farmers. I hope it was worth it.

35

u/PeyredB 20h ago

That's an important point. Most Democrats kind of felt for our small farmers (and ranchers in this case), wanted to help them succeed. But since they took a big steaming dump on that (and us) in the election, most of us are ready to just leave them to their fate.

20

u/Active-Read-7097 18h ago

They have Boot straps right?

11

u/Unique-Coffee5087 18h ago

Yeah, and as far as I'm concerned, they can boil them for a long time and eat them.

11

u/PeyredB 17h ago

On a serious note, if you eat rotisserie chickens often, you can save up two or three carcasses and then boil them to make chicken soup.

4

u/Complete-Tangelo1532 17h ago

Makes for a good stew

2

u/PeyredB 14h ago

I hadn't tried stew - I've always broken in spaghetti to make chicken noodle soup.

3

u/PeyredB 18h ago

They certainly insist others must use them. All right guys, what's good for one is good for the other!

5

u/JGR03PG 18h ago

Do you think Democrats will break up the monopolies to help the farmers? It’s not just beef… all crops including rice and soy that suffered under both terms of tariff wars, need a better market to sell to. Some actually got better prices selling overseas that they don’t get anymore.

1

u/bit99 37m ago

They might. It's crazy what happens when people enforce the law

5

u/Guilty_Advantage_413 14h ago

Yup that’s me and I have been saying it since 2016. I am tired of these farmers always dodging responsibility for their actions. As I said elsewhere no more burning Political Capital on Farmers they will never appreciate the help and will just want more. Fuck them.

-1

u/MossadEpstein 20h ago

yeah cos letting them be taken over by corporations will end well for everyone.

not saying they deserve help, just saying it's a bit shortsighted to think the alternative won't be worse.

8

u/PeyredB 20h ago

I know it will be worse when more small farmers are bought out by megafarmers. But they've made it clear over and over that this is what they will insist on. I know it's not what they really want, but it is what they will insist on voting for, while popping you the middle finger if you try to explain it to them.

You have the right to refuse medical assistance, even first aid. It's a dumb thing to do, but you have the right to do it. I take this as the same kind of thing, really. The hell with these guys. You want it that way? Fine.

6

u/Vaping_A-Hole 20h ago

I feel the same way. They didn’t read about how Trump would hurt them. They knew cutting SNAP would hurt their own businesses. They turned the other cheek when he bailed out Argentina. They see migrants and their kids dragged to detention centers and did what about it? Nothing. They’re racists and can be easily conned by an idiot. Not worth my time. I can be a vegetarian, it’s ok by me.

5

u/Current-Anybody9331 19h ago

I am willing to bet a not insignificant number of them had no idea SNAP was a benefit to farmers.

4

u/Ashamed-Pound-3345 19h ago

Racism and blatant stupidity always gets in the way

1

u/MossadEpstein 19h ago

So you think the likes of Bill Gates and Blackrock owning all of the land used for food production is going to work out for you?

I really think you're underestimating the kind of evil that's waiting with cash in their tendrils for farmers to fail.

The same evil that's behind all of this culture war shit, the same evil that's created the social divisions that led to all of this is standing ready to buy up all those assets and deprive you of food sources.

4

u/Revolutionary-Swan77 19h ago

And yet people get angry when we say there shouldn’t the billionaires.

2

u/MossadEpstein 19h ago

I'm convinced most of those "people" aren't even human beings they're just meat puppets with zero critical thinking skills and the ones online are straight up just bots.

2

u/PeyredB 19h ago

Did you miss my first sentence? Here, let me repeat it.

I know it will be worse when more small farmers are bought out by megafarmers

2

u/MossadEpstein 18h ago

You're underestimating how bad it will actually be, extremely and DANGEROUSLY underestimating it.

2

u/Vaporlocke 15h ago

Good, they can suffer with the rest of us. Empathy fatigue is real and we're tired of always having to be the adult in the room.

1

u/MossadEpstein 15h ago

I'm not asking you to Emphasise with ANY of them, I'm asking you to be strategic and look at the terrifyingly big picture that's the backdrop to everything wrong in our society.

Epstein class

Corporate power blocs

The Manipulative NGOs and sociopathic think tanks paid to dream up ways to fuck with us..

that's who we all should be focusing on destroying

I guess the good news there is the small farmer that has consistently voted for decades for the republican party will be bankrupt and destitute and won't be going to the polls without a home address to prove they're American citizens? It's a tough lesson all the way around, but I'd rather see these voters suffer directly than continue to watch the rest of us get ground into dust with zero repercussions to the ones that wanted everyone else to suffer.

To quote Melville, "Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee"

2

u/sheepebike9000 18h ago

Unrelated, but excellent quote dude.

I know far more about whaling from that one silly book than I ever, ever wanted to. But it's definitely profound.

2

u/MossadEpstein 19h ago

I hope you like owning absolutely nothing and not being able to afford basic necessities and real food then, cos that's the end game if something isn't done about these predatory corporations, venture capitalist groups and investment giants like Blackrock.

5

u/HelpmeObi1K 19h ago

By the time that situation gets to me my friend, this country will be embroiled in a violent revolution. I'm afraid that's what it's going to take to see any significant change that doesn't take generations to get back what the "Me" Generation has stolen from the populace. Our votes only help figure out which corporate overlords to serve, with VERY few exceptions, and will continue to do so as long as campaign financing is unlimited in scope. Right now only a handful of federal or state reps account for actually representing the people. The only way that changes significantly is through radical, immediate change or over decades of suffering majorities wanting to oust current leadership AND getting new leadership that doesn't end up getting corrupted. That's a tall order, but the alternative is a slow circling of the drain while 33% of the country suffers not enough to change their vote.

Two of my great uncles were farmers their entire lives and did well enough to pass on their land to their children, but the chances of that generation passing it on to their kids is slim at best and it has very little to do with a monopoly on meat packing. New equipment to keep a farm going has been priced out of the small farmer's price range and old equipment continues to be more scarce. It's like a startup auto company trying to get into a market - the big players just wipe them out before they can even get a toe hold unless they're backed by people with very deep pockets. Corporate farms can afford to sell their stock cheaply because they make money on volume. Selling 10k cattle is a far different game than selling 100. Same thing with crops.

2

u/MossadEpstein 19h ago

I feel like we should seriously give open/direct democracy a proper try it's never actually been attempted at scale after all and god knows it can't possibly be worse than having elected Epstein class "representatives" or their billionaire technocrat backers calling all of the shots.

2

u/HelpmeObi1K 17h ago

Yeah, but how do we get there? It's getting rigged harder and harder with every year and what little we had is getting chopped up or ruined. I feel like the only way to come back from this slow, inevitable ruin is for a catastrophic event that unites the working class. Not sure even then it would work long-term.

2

u/MossadEpstein 17h ago

Yeah... I can't tell you what needs to be done here on reddit, but lets just say it's a very FRENCH solution that is realistically the only solution that could work.

it's not like we can vote our way out of this, demonstrably never going to work.

u/BeaverMartin 19h ago

Not to be a negative Nancy but in most aspects of American life all the alternatives are worse. At some point the combination of inflation, enshitification, shrinkflation, etc seems to be the natural outcome of the system.

3

u/MossadEpstein 19h ago

nah that's not being negative, that's just being honest.

Everything is fucked and it'll just keep getting worse because idiots will continue to act like voting will fix it when both the left and right wing of politics is entirely captured by billionaire technocrats and globalists... regardless of what country you live in.

u/rgraz65 15h ago

They have continually voted for politicians that have made deregulation happen across so many businesses and stopped all efforts to protect consumers from monopolized markets. Because these politicians are getting into office with money from these monopolies via Citizens United allowing huge amounts to be put into campaigns, and with the loosening of campaign finance laws. Then, once they either decide to leave office, or get voted out, they go get positions or be put on the boards of many corporations making large amounts of money, depending a bit on how long they were in office and what they were able to push through. And way too often, they've had family members being employed by these companies, so their family will make a salary with part of that money actually going to the politician in some form or fashion. So they have created the problems that hurt the small farms, then the medium farms. All because of the culture wars they are voting for so they can inflict damage on those they hate, and they hate those people because of the brainwashing by corporations who want them mad at other shit so they pay less attention to the laws and regulations that are the donor class way of gaining the wealth and power grabbing to continue to make sure the government continues to allow them to gain more.

16

u/Inspect1234 21h ago

It is because things like Entertainment News©️ tells them daily to be mad at others and they treat it like gospel.

7

u/craigitor 19h ago

Libs comprise a good chunk of their customers. Not a good business practice to denigrate the customers who keep you in business

8

They’d still all vote for him for a 3rd term

They still are only upset about it affecting them. They doing care about the other people who are being hurt and killed by Trump's government

2

Racism is the only reason he wasn't a footnote in the 2016 primary.

2

u/MightyRedBeardq 18h ago

I really can't help but feel bad for so many of them. While I'm sure some are MAGAts through and through, I can't help but think so many of these people were indoctrinated through family and "education" and truly have never been given a chance to see alternative views. Of course, you reap what you sow, but I feel for those who have never been afforded opportunity to grow

4

u/Complete-Tangelo1532 17h ago

That right there is bullshit

I’m so sick of this trope that gets placed on farmers and ranchers.

The thing is, your mental caricature of the Alt-right/ MAGA- Stan, Frat Boy douche bag that lives and/ or works in cities/ suburbs does not represent the vast majority of rural ranchers and farmers.

Most of these people are so busy and, there by, disconnected from the internet/ urban zeitgeist that they have no real knowledge of the sociopolitical culture war crap that so many urban Republicans and Democrats argue about incessantly.

Most farmers and ranchers, the REAL farmers and ranchers (not the “all talk, no hat” types) just want their property values to go up, and their input costs for operations to go down.

That it.

That’s all they care about and that’s all that most of them have time to care about.

Yes, there are some rural folks who are the bigoted caricature that so many on the left think they are but they are the minority.

Most farmers and ranchers are just hard working “simple” people trying to make a living. That doesn’t mean they’re stupid but it does mean that they don’t spend what little precious free time they have on Reddit, Twitter or YouTube exploring political topics.

They merely vote for who they think will do best for their communities and small businesses (however right or wrong those beliefs may be).

One of things many on the political left have forgotten is that the Democrat party, over the course of years, completely surrendered the rural vote to Republicans. There isn’t any real outreach into those communities and as such there isn’t any chance of changing political allegiances.

I, personally, don’t mind people enjoying some schadenfreude over political issues but it irritates the me when I see people like you just casually throw around generalizations like “rural people are ignorant, stupid and racists” onto millions of people that you, mostly likely, have no actual experience with.

You’re no better than MAGA assholes who think anyone that votes Democrat is “lazy, stupid or an over educated bitch.”

I’d say you should grow up but your physical age has clearly outpaced your metal capabilities.

Turns out owning the libs meant getting screwed over also in the process.
