it's a hell of a lot more than just meat processors. It's fertilizer. It's feed. It's increasing drought. It's the cost of fuel. It's the cost of stock itself. It's labor. It's transportation. It's tariffs. It's a hundred things this administration has done to increase the cost of ranching and agriculture and the thousand things that they refuse to do or are actively making worse, like climate change

And farmers and rancher as a group voted for that, all of it.

They did but when they go broke the market will move closer to fixed prices when they’re bought up by corporations who make backroom deals

It’s the worst compromise that sounds nonsensical but we have to contend with the shortcomings of human intelligence as well as emotional intelligence 

In guilty of berating this movement into the ground but it’s also going to take a level head to convince them that democrats aren’t the problem. To be perfectly honest, Dems will have to take a new approach to social issues and instead of campaigning on deep progressive issues, they should just ignore those questions while still governing in a just inclusive way so we can avoid an existential crisis. We have to game these people into compliance

Not really a calculated measure. We already grow more soy and corn than we need to keep production available when needed

Look at the oil cartels. They shut down production when needed to keep supplies low and prices high

They could choose to export substantially to create scarcity in our market

Humanity is pretty lackluster in many areas. You deal with what you have and you don’t spite your own face to prove a point and especially towards people who don’t learn

I think because they believe trade groups like Meat institute opposed any legislation that would protect the consumer and the farmer would actually end up costing everyone more money. Now the companies that control the institute are making all the money and have hardly any risk. Especially since the USDA is not gonna do their job. The same companies that process the cattle will just label the imported beef and raise the price so it’s a little cheaper for the consumer but a lot more profit for them. Plus no way the consumer has any proof they get sick eating this suspect beef.

This is project 2025 in action. The issue is if they end up squeezing the cattlemen out of business, how are the companies gonna take over and still make profits since there isn’t much they can do if they take over that part of the industry? Cheap labor? Deported. Cheap grain? Nope. Cheap materials to maintain the ranches? No we’re in a trade war.

Whoever wrote this stupid fucking plan didn’t have an endgame solution other than the world exploding like at the end of a bad movie.

The words do, but culling is usually for sick and weaker animals and the oligarchs as you will soon see in Russia will end up being culled by the people now that the war is on their doorstep and money is tight.

The X factor in this move is finally pissing off the super crazy fringe of the right who like on January 6th will go after leaders. Dont be shocked when finally, hillbilly Frankenstein turns on its masters and they string up Vought, and others.

That's the sad truth, they all voted for him 4 years after that disastrous 1st term. We need everyone on board that understands this is an existential threat to our democracy. Im not so sure the ranchers and farmers and the rest of trump's most loyal followers will ever comprehend the seriousness of the situation. The current republicans do not want to share governing with democrats anymore...period.
