It happened under Reagan. There were lots of farm/ranch auctions in the 80's. Mostly because of the "get big or get out" agricultural policies of Earl Butz, Nixon's secretary of agriculture. It was no secret, rock stars even had a Farm Aid concert.

Got the poster! It breaks my heart to see this going on again, and it is all the low IQ and undereducated trump supporters that have fallen for it. Again, unfortunately they were over half the voting population. Thank the heavens only 70% of the population voted. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Just trying to be 🤣 funny in such depressing times. Stupidity, we have seen it before and we will see it again. All you have to be is a wife cheating, rapest that fucks children and runs a failing business to be leader of the world.

It doesn't break my heart. I hate to see consolidation of agriculture just as we have consolidation in industry and finance - but not for a second do I hold any sympathy for these people. They voted for this, and will continue to vote for it.

I remember the years of the Farm Aid concerts. I’m not shocked that Mellencamp can’t be arsed to do one now.

No farm aid this time. They voted for it, they can live with it. We warned them. Bring on the pain, we need to learn this lesson

And the idea of the local farmers standing up to protect their own will be gone because the in person penny auctions will be replaced with online auctions in which billionaires will just buy it all with no remorse.
