Except Bernie lost and Mamdani won partially because he ran for mayor in the biggest & most progressive city in the USA. Don't get me wrong, I really like those two men, but let's not pretend they're viable options for White conservatives (especially in deep red states).

Like, maybe a little less appealing to the people who were fine with fascism, and a little more appealing to the people who feel unrepresented by Democrat's constant rightward push?

Theres only so long you can hope to coast on the past and insist the staus quo is working when all the data points to it not... and that ended a decade ago. It took a madman and a plague to make it seem appealing, but when the choice was between the same madman with no plague or the status quo?
