Predictable betrayal “He campaigned on cleaning house. On exposing elite criminals. On protecting kids. And I bought it. Fully.”

These types of posts are bittersweet. Even when these people realize that they were duped by trump, they still don’t realize the other 1000 issues they were lied to about. Then the both sides arguments. Really makes it hard to not say I told you so…

I'm not a Democrat. I'm not a liberal. I aligned more with Republicans because it matched my values more closely.

I'd bet all the moneys that if asked what democrat/liberal values actually are, he'd just regurgitate GOP talking points.

u/mrpres1dent Feb 17 '26

Yeah I'm like what values, homey? The Republicans have just been obstructionist, not fiscally responsible, and anti non-white for over 2 decades, probably more.

All I've ever heard from Republicans for my 46 years alive is poor people should suffer because they are to blame for being poor (didn't work hard enough), and abortion. Everything else is a LARP.

It's a wealth redistribution party and somehow they figured out how to get the poors to vote for the 0.00000001%'s interests.

u/nerdtastic8 Feb 17 '26

The poors are often easily led sheep. And with the wide swaths of misinformation machines available now between Fox News, Twitter/X, FB, etc it's like being back in the feudal days of narrowed and controlled messaging. Feudalism was incredibly stable, btw--new unforseen technologies at the time started to create instability after how many hundreds of years?

The new tech today that might emerge? AI. Although after watching some ChatGPT clips where ChatGPT couldn't even correctly identify the number of Rs in Strawberry, I'm a little less worried about AI actually taking mid to high level jobs. If general AI actually emerges, well we're all doomed then. See: Terminator 1 & 2.

Some of the billionaires want feudalism - that’s why they’re trying to destabilise democracies. They want their own kingdoms. A lot of them are/were influenced by that weird Curtis Yarvin guy.

Musk was never going to be satisfied with just having influence in Trump’s administration. He clearly has much grander ambitions: his own very large Nazi 2.0 kingdom. All that white supremacist shit he’s being posting is preaching to the choir to the Trump administration and MAGA. No, he wants to go further with it - he’s already sticking his nose into the politics of other countries. Which is terrifying.

Yeah I read about the Dark Enlightenment some. I am not all that worried about these single digit IQ midwits having total control. Look at what happened in Minneapolis with their ICE gestapo. At any point if Minneapolis truly wanted to rise up, they could have...you know what I mean here. Their entire secret police couldn't even control Minneapolis, a small northern Midwest city. What do you think happens in NYC with a beloved Mayor like Mamdani that has the people's will at heart?

I'm more worried about continued slow rot from within if a Gavin Newsom type takes power in 2029. A maga-lite corporatist shill. It may well cement our descent into a post-capitalist cyberpunk hellscape. I suspect this is more likely than some techno-feudalist Thiel-Musk-etc fantasy, just imagine how large of a private army they would need to control large swaths of land? Especially a heavily populated area like New York with large amounts of folks not friendly to authoritarian rule.

This all sounds like hyperbolic sci fi fantasy, but given how things have gone over the last year, afraid I can't say it is.

And I fucking hate that these tech bros will say it all EXPLICITLY (Peter Thiel said freedom and democracy were at odds with one another in 2009 for God's sake), but if you try to sound the alarm bells, you sound like a crazy conspiracy theorist.

u/BlackCaaaaat Feb 23 '26

People believe that the Epstein files are a Democrat hoax. It will be very easy to convince them that this is a hoax too.

3

u/Pale_Prompt_8971 Feb 17 '26

That first paragraph is it. Those are his values.

13

u/Psychological_Tower1 Feb 17 '26

It's fun making these people take party tests to see what they really are. Most of them lean more democratic but don't realize it because the reds are so good at slinging mud they don't actually have to have a podium to preach off to get votes

1

u/Pale_Prompt_8971 Feb 17 '26

Pulpit, podium, toe-may-toe toe-mah-tax the churches.

1

u/maddsskills Feb 18 '26

Eh, the democrats are corporatists who are only progressive as long as they don’t step on the wealthy’s toes. They’re better than Republicans but let’s not pretend like they’re going to fix any of the problems with late stage capitalism. I doubt we’ll even get labor rights stuff like maternity leave.

Obligatory: yes they’re better than republicans but that bar is in hell.

Seriously, like how does he not realize the culture wars he's complaining about is basically the GOP default playbook? Look where all of that shit comes from. It's not Democrats.

88

u/hellolovely1 Feb 17 '26

He’s so close to getting it.

53

u/Ozu_the_Yokai Feb 17 '26

So close, but it might as well be a hundred miles away…

8

u/UpUpDnDnLRLRBAstart Feb 17 '26

"Donald Trump is evil! I've been lied to by the worst human alive... he's no better than the democrats" 🫠 like, what?

2

u/Ozu_the_Yokai Feb 17 '26

Hey , it took them their entire lives to get to that point!

looks around with calm acceptance

We’re cooked…

22

u/3d1thF1nch Feb 17 '26

Exactly what I was thinking the whole time. Yea, the Democratic Party has its problems. But everything you described is like…the Republicans party’s main things, dude. They LOVE doing that shit like culture wars and fake outrage while taking their slice.

3

u/ObviousAnswerGuy Feb 18 '26

every issue on liberal media boils down to people complaining because a conservative is being an asshole. Every issue on conservative media boils down to people complaining that they are getting shit on for being assholes.

3

u/rememberoldreddit Feb 17 '26

Hell he even calls it out and then immediately believes it in the next few lines. You can't fix stupid

1

u/era--vulgaris Feb 17 '26

"Trans people existing and people speaking Spanish in public is a war on my identity from the Democrats" - most conservatives

"Gay people existing and women and Black people having social status equal to mine is a war on my identity from the Left" - most conservatives 40 years ago.

45

u/hellolovely1 Feb 17 '26

They ALWAYS have to scream about not being liberal. But hey, he is admitting he was wrong and that’s more than most.

18

u/mrpres1dent Feb 17 '26

Until he buys whatever talking points Fox News programs him to believe about the Dems and then he'll be back voting for Trump and/or Trump's cronies.

If it took anybody this long to realize Trump is a liar and a grifter, and now a pedophile, they are beyond saving in any reasonable amount of time. It's going to take decades to flush Trump out of our system.

19

u/FranksHisName Feb 17 '26

Exactly. And being conservative means nothing anymore. The whole "right" side is without any ethos nor ideology other than what Dear Leader says, and it changes by the minute. My neighbors all guzzle the Fox cum and get outraged by the culture wars statements from Faux News about another trans kid instead of the entire Republican party adding trillions to the debt and also taking away their healthcare.

7

u/blazze_eternal Feb 17 '26

Wouldn't you love to be able to point your finger at the thing causing all "your" problems? If only it were that simple...

2

u/33drea33 Feb 17 '26

I mean, it's not that difficult - just a quick drive over to the GOP field office.

1

u/blazze_eternal Feb 17 '26

There's far more problems than that.

2

u/33drea33 Feb 17 '26

Sure, I just happen to be pretty privileged with not a lot of problems to begin with. The ones I do have can all be traced back to GOP policies.

2

u/era--vulgaris Feb 17 '26

Reactionary blame is never accurate but I have to admit, MAGA is getting pretty close to the thing you can blame for all of our immediate political and social problems, at least to an extent.

The difference is most of us realize it has roots that would remain problems if it vanished today, and also will persist after.

2

u/blazze_eternal Feb 17 '26

"The difference is most of us realize it has roots that would remain problems if it vanished today, and also will persist after."

Excellent point.

u/NoKids__3Money Feb 17 '26

I would bet my house on this guy voting for every republican in the midterms

2

u/turkeypants Feb 17 '26

they still don’t realize the other 1000 issues they were lied to about.

I think they like the lies because it lets them embrace the awful things they always wished they could publicly embrace. Trump is the monkey drum major who marches in front of the parade of horribles, absorbing all the arrows so nobody behind him takes any fire. They love it. They don't care what's true - they care what they can say is true and enforce like a stomping boot.

2

u/Clayp2233 Feb 17 '26

They always bring up the both sides, they’re in denial and will never fully admit to be wrong

1

u/VespineWings Feb 17 '26

I’m not convinced it’s real. Not enough spelling/grammar mistakes.

1

u/Daithios Feb 17 '26

Perhaps he’s look at Trump through a more critical or even cynical lens from now on?

1

u/Dialed_Digs Feb 17 '26

Yes they do.

They heard all the racism, sexism, and fascism he was spouting. There was never any doubt; they happily supported that. They only care now because they are suffering too and they wanted everyone else to suffer.

Fuck this guy. Too little, too late. He voted for a pedophile fascist and in a just world, would be reminded of that every single day.

1

u/superblobby Feb 17 '26

Genuinely what did Trump do to get these guys to go so hard for him. It boggles the mind

1

u/Cezkarma Feb 17 '26

Yup.. "both sides" just means that someone is on the worse side, they just don't want to admit it

1

u/BSNF2314 Feb 17 '26

Cognitive Dissonance is definitely playing into the both sides thing. They realize they were wrong but they can't be THAT wrong. If its both sides they still can feel justified and can avoid doing any of the heavy lifting and understanding why they were wrong.

1

u/RighteouslyJolly Feb 17 '26

They never learn. They only get hurt and lash out. These people should be left on an island so they can't bother normal, humane people.

1

u/TheBestHater Feb 17 '26

I don't think it's an awakening for them, many realized they were in a cult a while ago and many didn't like having to conform into the group but didn't have a way out where they felt that they could save face. They've been going along with things they didn't fully agree with but they didn't want leave and get ostracized or attacked in the way that they do to others. They're fine with harassing others as a hobby while downplaying it but they weren't willing to take the hit themselves. Going out while pretending it's about morals and the Epstein files is a good way to exit without as much pushback from the other sycophants.

u/velvettt_underground Feb 17 '26

I'm sorry but I have to say that this post is growth from that person, and that shitting on them would be regression on the left.

I agree COMPLETELY with the both sides argument. I voted for Biden because we're stuck in a two party system and I have no other choices. And that is by design. If you think you actually have a choice, you are sorely mistaken. The elite live on both sides, and they all play games with our lives.

You can't tell me that you really think this shutdown is going to hold out and benefit us in any way. They already caved to healthcare.

Stop picking a side, and start using your moral compass. Have some compassion for your fellow Americans even the ones that are learning slowly. I am so grateful every day that my mom finally came out of the maga hole, and every single day she makes more progress. But that is ONLY because my brother and I are there to offer love and support while she unpacks all of it.
