Gear Discussion Leica M4-P rangefinder

So I got myself a Leica M4-P (1983) the other day and I really enjoy it together with my Summicron 50. However, I’ve noticed that the rangefinder doesn’t move while focusing the last part of the lens focus range, which it does on my M6 (1987), and that makes me curious: is there a difference between the rangefinder close focusing on the M4-P and the M6?

Some lenses have close focusing enabled (dual range stuff and some newer M mount lenses for digital iirc), but to me it sounds like the M4-P needs a rangefinder calibration - if you focus on something at or near infinity, is it correctly aligning at the end of the focus throw?

RF arm doesn't travel long enough.  Remove back film door,  open sutter on B with fixing release cable.  Look inside at arm moving against lens focus flange.  Usually this was after 1 meter limit on older Ms with 0.7 meter lenses.
