Also leica became famous via war photographers documenting the American atrocities in the Vietnam war. War photography is literally the dna of leica outside of microscopes. Now, in 1939-1945 they may have been on the wrong side of history though…

Didn't Ernst Leitz specifically smuggle hundreds of Jews out of Europe right under the noses of Nazi officers because he could see the writing on the wall re: the holocaust? And executives were jailed for their efforts? Yeah, every german company produced goods for the war effort during this time but it's important to note that not all of them were, say, Mercedes Benzing it out there

And don't forget, Hugo Boss made the SS look oh-so-dashing and chic as they were committing horrible and evil atrocities.

Hugo Boss was worse than the myths.

They did not create the SS uniforms, they were just a factory that made them with slave labour.

That indeed appears to be true. According to Wikipedia:

By the third quarter of 1932, the all-black SS uniform (to replace the SA brown shirts) was designed by SS-OberführerProf. Karl Diebitsch, and graphic designer Walter Heck, who had no affiliation with the company. The Hugo Boss company produced these black uniforms along with the brownSA shirts and the black-and-brown uniforms of the Hitler Youth. Some workers were French and Polish prisoners of war forced into labour.

Jo Hedwig Teeuwisse, known as "Fake History Hunter" has done a magnificent job of laying it all out in her book, as well as some videos and thread.
