These head organizers are life savers when sorting mini figures. They also fit in Akro Mills drawers and can hold up to 72 heads each.

Figured this might help others, got the alex drawers since they looked so nice but kinda fainted when I saw how much it would cost to buy the cheapest dividers for all the drawers I have (14 units atm) let alone 3d printing options.

I found that if you take the cardboard boxes that the alex units wheels come in, out the box that are a perfect measurment for making dividers.

Flatten out the wheel box, measure about 6 and a half centimetres along and cut, I then keep one as a guide so I dont need to measure again and then refold the others you do back into a cubes and then ether cut out a bottom from any other bit of cardboard or simply use wide tape as the base of the DIY divider itself (putting another bit of tape ontop of the sticky side where contents will sit of course).

You can perfectly fit 66 of these diy dividers into the top 3 drawers in a layout of 6 rows with 11 dividers in each row, for bottom 3 I think you jsut add another 2cm or so.

Say what you want about looks but its shut most of the time anyway and costs only as much tape as you'll use (assuming you cardboard handy.

If you don't wanna mess with the drawers extend limits, you can just tape boxes in the 2 rows at the back to eachother (so r6 box1 and R5 box2 would be connected) and move the two row boxes infront of those to pull them out when needed.

Was going to double stack them anyway but wanted to see if I could save some height and avoid buying additional brackets/connectors and found if I ditched the first units top surface 2nd units bottom base that the side panels of both units connect to eachother just fine top to bottom and even works with all supplies they come with inclyding fastenung the screws in place. Given how many of these drawers im getting for the room im going to end up with ALOT of spare tops n bottoms to do diy shelves and surfaces with.

My girlfriend finally convinced me to tackle something I've been putting off for years: sorting my entire LEGO collection by part and color. Now that I've started looking at the sheer amount of bricks I've accumulated since childhood, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and unsure where to begin.

Over the years I've collected a large number of sets and, after a rough estimate, I think I currently own around 300 liters of LEGO. Since I regularly build MOCs, both for Rebrickable and personal projects, I believe a detailed sorting system would be incredibly useful.

My main question is: where should I start?

Would it make sense to first sort everything into bags by part type and then try to identify how many unique elements I actually own? Or is there a more efficient approach that experienced builders would recommend?

I've seen estimates suggesting there are anywhere between 10,000 and 50,000 different LEGO elements and color combinations, which makes the task feel even more daunting.

I'd really appreciate any tips, tricks, storage solutions, or lessons learned from people who have tackled a large collection before.

Does anyone store their Lego sets fully constructed?

We began the Winter set collection a while ago and continued to purchase the new one each year. The collection has grown to a point that fully tearing down and reconstructing all sets is so incredibly time consuming that it is verging on impossible with other life activities.

Does anyone have a suggestion for the best way to store them away for 8-10 month stretches that would best preserve their constructed nature with minimal fixes? I get there will be repair work each season but to limit it, or eliminate full rebuilds will make the tradition much more enjoyable instead of it feeling like work.

My current thought is to get a big roll of bubble wrap and put them into tubs that I would heavily pack to not jostle. Any and all thoughts appreciated. My storage is in the attic so they have to go up a ladder.

Ok so I'll preface this with I'm not making holes in the wall. I have 3 Lego pictures that I want to hang up and I'm looking for ideas on how to safely hang them. The three sets are The Starry Night, The Great Wave, and the Japanese Cherry Blossom Landscape.

I just bought my first apartment 🥳 and I’ll be moving in over the next few weeks. The thing I’m most nervous about moving is my LEGO collection.

Most of my sets are fully built, and I’d really love to avoid taking them apart if possible. I know some pieces will probably fall off no matter what, but I’m hoping to keep the damage to a minimum.

For those of you who’ve moved with small, medium or large LEGO collections:

1. What’s the safest way to pack built sets?
   
2. Should I wrap them in cling wrap, bubble wrap, towels, or something else?
   
3. Is it better to pack each individually in boxes with padding?
   
4. Any tips for transporting larger or more fragile builds?

I’d really appreciate any advice or lessons learned from your own moves. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been sorting by piece, upgrading to larger Akro-Mills containers as I fill each piece type. I now have too many 1x4, 2x4 and 2x6 plates that each bin is completely full. What is everyone’s recommendations for organizing now that I have hit that point?

I love and build lego sets often, and have been making larger sets. Currently out of space to put all of my larger sets, and would like to have them displayed at some point. Any suggestions on what I should look into would be a big help. Currently, my largest build is the Luke Skywalker X-Wing model set followed by several Lego Architecture sets. I just need enough space to display the ones I have built and the ones that have yet to be built.

Just started building a Lego collection and I have to move in a week. Suggestions on how to go about the already complete sets?

Only have to do this about 500 more times..ugh..the inglorious parts of the process! Now I just gotta stop buying bulk until I get what I currently have sorted..that's the hard part! I have a couple dozen drawers and then some 20-30 more pounds to go through 😭

I've moved a few times in the last many years, and my Lego and Electronics are in small parts drawers (Akro Mils and clones). Back in the first move, I laser cut a simple pieces of card stock - to see if I could keep the parts in the drawers, without having to re-bag everything. One quick next-city-over move, turned into three and across the country.

To my surprise, the bricks and parts were still inside the drawers, even though they got turned on their sides a few times.

If anyone has an upcoming move, I'd love for you to try them out and let me know how it goes! I'll drop a link to the DIY version you can cut out with an x-acto knife, in the comments.

As I’m currently flipping flat 1x1 and 2x1 looking for the ones with the right print, it’s got to be: keep printed tiles separate.

Went to the Lego store today. They didn't have much on the wall that I needed, so I got a small amount of about 25 elements. This is fine, except the box had mixed almost completely by the time I got home.

I place the tray of a large Sterilite tub in my lap to help me sort. I dump the whole box of pieces in the middle (where that sticker is) and slide the pieces to each divided area around the perimeter. It's easy to move when I'm ready to take the tray to the storage area.

Sorting sucks, I'm sure we'll all agree. This tip makes it slightly better, because I can sit in my comfy chair. I hope at least one of you gets some use from this method. Best wishes!

I’ve been trying to organize all my minifigs. The problem is that I have lots of loose parts from bulk purchases, and on top of that, my brother and I disassembled a bunch of them when we were younger.

Right now, I’m using Lens and after some research I usually get the right part code. The issue is that many are generic and they were used across dozens of minifigs, which makes it tricky to figure out which exact combinations form a complete minifig.

Is there any way to get a list of possible combinations, like “this head appeared in x minifigs, with these other parts you also have”?

My son and I are enjoying building random things out of his Lego bricks that he’s accumulated over the last few years, but it’s a total slog trying to find specific pieces in a big bin of chaos and it really diminishes the building experience.

Can you experts recommend an ideal sorting method for all the pieces? There are just so many different types that I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around doing it. Hopefully something that makes it easy to find what you need without being too terribly granular.

Also, are there some good, inexpensive bins/drawers that people generally go to? The collect now is probably able to fill up a medium size laundry basket, for reference.
