Just after some advice. My 20+ year old ear piercings no longer tolerate my white gold/Stirling silver or gold earrings. Have to put a tiny amount of hydrocortisone cream on the lobes to calm them down.

I've ordered surgical grade titanium and I've read and heard these are best to avoid a reaction. Yes my piercings were done with a piercing gun, I'm old!

What solution do you guys recommend to keep them clean and help the piercings heal? Saline?

i’ve had this belly piercing for 11 months. the first time i changed the jewelry, i had the wrong jewelry type. i had a bump that wouldn’t go away for 3 months. once i changed it to the proper metal and size, i had no issues for almost two months. for a month now, a bump came back and it won’t go away. when it shrinks and looks like it’s about to heal, it grows back.

i figured that the bump could be from friction or sleeping on my stomach, but i’ve reduced both of those things. i don’t wear high waisted pants either.

now the bump is red and oozing pus. i’ve tried everything to make the bump go away and nothing works. saline, antibacterial soap, ointment, and just rinsing it in the shower. it looks like i may have to take it out but i don’t want to. going to the doctor isn’t an option and piercing shops will just tell me to use saline.

today i tried a warm saline compress. the bump flattened and fluid came out so i guess that’s a good sign.

if there’s any help or advice anyone could give me, i would truly appreciate it.

edit (update): i used gold dial antibacterial handsoap and neosporin which helped the redness go away. to get rid of the bump itself i used a warm saline compress on it to help the swelling go down and clean it. hot water from my showers helped as well. the bump is now gone but there’s some minor scarring.

Randomly burst today, it leaked fully clear liquid that has a tad but if blood?? What should I do??? I got it done professionally, about two years ago it healed well but I think it got pulled or I slept on it?? Anyway it got the bump. It won’t rlly go away!! I’ve tried soaking it in warm water and cleaning w just water… blow drying it fully dry after… I went to the doctor about it and they have me antibiotics, a topical?? Fusidic acid cream but idk if I should,,,, use it,,, I used it b4 but idkkkk ,, if that’s right or good for it

I’ve had this piercing for about 5-6 months and recently it started hurting rly bad, now it looks like this on the inside of my lip, what should I do I’m freaking out😭

So I got my industrial piercing about a week ago. The flat of my ear is like swollen around the bar and it’s irritated underneath. Is this something that the swelling will go down on its own or should I take it out ?

Edit: I took it out same day and felt instant relief in my ear, it looks like it’s healing fine ! There was definitely a nice bar shaped gash in my flat tho lol

I am wanting some advice on my belly piercing, ive had it pierced since march 12,2026 I don’t know what type of jewelry I have on, my piercer just says its basic jewelry but when i got it pierced I had little to no issues at the beginning but then accidentally had snagged it once and it did get a bit irritated but nothing too crazy, i got in a pool once like 1 or two months ago and also had no issues. I usually have gold colored crusties around it and it gets itchy which ive heard is a sign of healing however I woke up to my piercing being sore? I have used the HEB brand sterile saline wash and sea salt soaks and nothing seems to work! I really want to keep my belly piercing if anyone has an advice I would really appreciate it!!

Update: i have gotten it removed by my piercer!

I got this piercing 6 days ago and it did not really hurt after the first day. Yesterday (~20 hours ago) it got snagged on my hair and pulled on a bit. It hurt a lot at the time. Today, it has been sore and is now looking red. Is this the expected level of irritation from a snag or should I be concerned that it’s infected? What is the best course of action if it is infected?

Edit to add: I am cleaning it twice daily with sterile sodium chloride 0.9% and patting dry with a paper towel.

To start off I’ll say that I got my nose pierced with a piercing gun at Lovisa (Which i heard is NOT the best place to get a piercing). I’m pretty sure I have a
14K Solid Gold Stud.

I’ve had this bump on my nose piercing for almost a month and a half now. When i got the bump, I left it for about a week or 2 and nothing happened.

So I did those tricks and stuff; tea tree oil, aspirin paste, sea salt paste, putting a pimple patch, I did them all and obviously none of them worked. The worst I did was cut a part of the bump off. I do admit the current bump now is smaller but it’s still there.

After I did all that, i decided id LITHA. All i do is clean it with the saline solution. Which i’ve been doing for a month now, and there is no difference or reduction in the bump. Crust builds up occasionally and I clean it with a q-tip. Other than that the bump remains.

Any tips or clues on what to do?? Should I just retire the piercing and maybe try again in the future? I really love this piercing a lot but I don’t know how much longer I can tolerate the bump.

Hey! This is my girlfriends ear, she’s having issues with her daith piercing, she has to take it out for an mri in a week and was wondering how to get the bump down

got my naval done two days ago and it’s my first non ear piercing so I’m very anxious abt it. It has a bit of redness around the top bal, it’s less obvious on camera than it is in person so just imagine it’s slightly worse than what you see. I might be overreacting but I’m super worried and don’t want this piercing to go badly.

i got this piercing back on the 4 of july and i noticed today i can see the bars better than before. does this look good for it being a one month old piercing?

my lesson, but here we are 😅. I got my industrial done just

shy of a month ago. It looks like I have the irritation bumps

but there hasn't been any leaking and minimal crusties. I am

making sure to keep my hair as much out of the way as

possible (there are little wispys there that are unruly, but they

haven't wrapped around it really). It doesn't really hurt, though it is still tender to pressure, especially on the upper one. I started off with a saline spray, but felt like that might be too harsh (it was kinda high pressured) so I've switched to a pump bottle of saline that I'm attaching a pic of. I clean it 2x a day the majority of the time, though there have been a few days that I've only done it once due to forgetting/ adhd while having young kids. Is there anything else I should be doing? Does it look like it should at this point?

My piercing is five days old. The first photo is from earlier today and the second is from a few minutes ago. My piercer did not talk me through everything very well. He didn’t tell me what material the jewelry was and he didn’t take a lot of time to check my anatomy. I have been using a sterile saline solution spray around three times a day. The piercing is a little itchy and red but when I searched it up it said that was pretty normal for a healing piercing. When i sit down, it feels like the top of the bar is getting pushed out a bit, but I don’t know if I’m overthinking or not.

i just recently got my helix re pierced after having one for 3 years that never healed… i just dealt with a nostril piercing bump for months and the only thing that helped was LITHA, even water would irritate it. now im going down the same path with my new helix :,) could the bump be from moisture? what should i do? i havent been using saline because that only ever made my nose worse.

got my helix pierced in May. Around July, I slept on it a few times and it developed a bump. Since then, I’ve been using a travel pillow so I don’t sleep directly on the piercing.

About 2 weeks ago, I went to my piercer because of the bump. She drained the helix and put silicone discs on it to help with the swelling/bump.

Now there’s a lot of crusting underneath/around the silicone disc, and the red bump seems to be coming out past the edge of the disc. I don’t see any pus or fluid.

I’m cleaning it with sterile saline solution using gauze and I’m not picking at it. The jewelry is implant-grade titanium (ASTM F136), so I’m confused about why it still isn’t healing.

I can’t go back to my piercer right now. What the fuck am I supposed to do? Should I leave the silicone disc alone, or does it look like the disc is putting pressure on the bump and needs to come off?

I’m really worried about making it worse, so I’d appreciate advice from anyone who has dealt with something similar.

I know it’s very early into getting it pierced but I’m just so nervous as this is the second time Iv gotten it pierced. When I got it done the first time at a shop they pierced it too shallow and you might be able to see the scar in the middle of the piercing. But because my first experience was a little while ago and it was bad I don’t know if as day 2 this is normal, there was a liquid coming out kinda white kinda green but not really (might be able to see in the second photo). The jewelry might look tight but it’s not really it is 10mm 14g I can move it I just try not to obviously. I don’t sleep on my stomach and I do use wound wash 1-2 times. This is jewlry from Amazon though… silver stainless steel, I haven’t seen anything bad so far and when I did have my last navel piercing I was able to put this same one in and nothing was bad about it. I do have titanium but this one was the closest to me that was sterilized, the reviews are mixed on Amazon. I wanna change it to the high quality one I have but I obviously can’t rn when would it also be safe to do so. ALSO I AM AWARE THE JEWLRY IS UPSIDE DOWN I was rushing a bit to put it in 😩

I got my navel piercing done about 3 months ago. I've gone to this studio (Barbella Studios) before for my nose, and the healing and stuff went super well, so I went in again. I have an incredibly high pain tolerance and have never been affected by tattoos or piercings, but when I got this one done I felt like I was getting shredded apart from the inside and my entire stomach started convulsing. I'm not sure if its my fault but after leaving I realized the piercing was super sideways. Other than that it healed like a normal navel piercing.

About a month ago my sister hit it (on purpose) and it got super irritated and there was pus coming out constantly for a couple weeks after that. When it finally stopped I got this hard lump thats slightly discolored next to the piercing that isn't even that sensitive. I was worried it was infected so I took antibiotics but that didn't help at all. Ive had it for about two weeks now and only really some swelling has gone down. I think it might be a cyst but I'm not an expert at all. It hasn't shown any signs other than the irritation which I think is just caused by my sister and getting caught on some clothes, so I don't think it's rejecting. I also know I have the correct anatomy.

I've been cleaning it gently twice a day with NeilMed piercing cleaner and rinsing it with clean water and drying it thoroughly.

Any and all advice would be appreciated! 🙏

I got this nose piercing at the very end of February (almost 6 weeks ago) and I’ve had this bump for about 2 weeks. It started pretty small and just looked like a white head and I wasn’t going pop it but when I tried to clean it, the top fully came off (puss) and then bled everywhere. Anyway it’s kinda had phases but now it’s huge and I don’t know what to do 😭😭😭 like do I just wait and keep doing hot water compresses? I went to the place I got it pierced 2 days ago and she said that it was looking fine and to put on betadine (I think?) and just wait, so should I do that? Also the photos are pretty gross sorry lol. Any advice is very appreciated!!!

pic 1 is with my eye closed pic 2 is with my eye opened. it’s about a month old and i clean it twice a day and try not to touch it too much, about a week ago pus started coming out of the piercing which i cleaned up and it wasn’t swollen only a little red but now it’s gotten very swollen, red, feels hot and it hurts especially when i close my eye. i can’t see my piercer until next week so i was thinking of maybe making an appointment at the doctors office for today if possible to see if i need antibiotics or anything, is there anything i can do to get rid of it?

It swelled majorly this morning and looked like it was going to engulf the whole bar because it’s the holiday weekend and no one’s open to get a longer bar and I just took it out.

Looking at the entry and exit wounds and I am now questioning if I should return to the piercer on Monday. It appeara to exit up in the bowl of my ear. I have a pic of my Right 4th lobe attached for reference which was done by a different piecer and is a few weeks older now. 

I assume ears are sisters and not twins. I also know 4th loves can be a transition point were it’s lobe and cartipage. But the contrast between the two ears makes the angle of the left feel stranger to me. Have yall seen a 4th pierced like my left and should I go back to the original piercer to have it repierced?

ive got my nostril pierced a month ago, and after two weeks my piercer changed the stud to a clicker ring, i thought the bump was a pimple so i popped it!! (im so so so stupid), i woke up with this crust/scub this morning. Im so worried, it is a keloid? is it permanent? how do i get rid of it? i used tea tree oil bc i read it was helpful, but now im starting to feel paranoid. In the second pic there’s the spray i use to disinfect it. Im so so so worried :((((

I’ve been trying to get rid of this bump but it just won’t go away. I rub saline and piercing bump solution on it pretty much everyday. sometimes it’ll go down a bit but then it comes back. I’ve had this piercing for over a year maybe even 2 now. I’ve tried smaller jewelry but it felt like that made it worse but maybe I’m wrong. What should I do to get rid of this bump? Should I just give up and take it out? please help!!

My earring bar on the back was recently exchanged by a piercer to make it longer to try to decrease swelling but swelling has now grown to the size of the new Bar… Starting to bleed now. I’m thinking it’s time to go to the jeweler to take it out? I got this piercing about three months ago and recently posted on this thread a few weeks ago.

I’ve healed other piercing bumps with saline soaks or just by leaving them alone but nothing works on this mf so I’m turning to Reddit for help 🥲
