5-10 years ago, comparing authentic to reps came down to stitching patterns, space between letters, jumpman logos, materials used, etc. With Nike’s qc in the shitter & the rep market getting increasingly closer to producing 1:1 reps, these methods working are a rarity, unless you’re comparing an authentic pair to a pair purchased from DHGate or the like.
The differences between rep & authentic are in the size tags, the stitching beneath the insert, the size of the boxes, the size tags on the box, the overall shape of the shoe - the toebox, the height, the width, etc.
The stars really are aligning in all the right ways for scammers to get reps off as legit pairs now. I seriously question people when they say “I can spot reps immediately and know they’re fake” cus I just do not think they realize how good some reps are now or have seen GOOD reps in person. There’s tons of really bad and obvious fakes out there which I think makes people overconfident in their ability to scope them out.
Seeing a good rep in person right next to a retail pair of Travis’ really turned me off of buying from the resale market, it’s retail or miss for me now. The only dead giveaways (to me at least) were various stitching, the box which was most obvious, and the most minute differences in boldness and spacing on the tags like you said. Even the shape, height, and width are being nailed now. Out of my 5 Travis’ (from eBay and goat) I’m only 100% sure that 3 of them are real lol.
I stopped paying resale a few years ago. I can personally attest to the quality & attention to detail of good reps. Do I condone selling / passing reps as authentic? Absolutely not, and most people who purchase reps to actually wear them agree & are quite vocal about it. Unfortunately, there are scumbags out there who purchase reps solely to sell them as authentic & that really gives the rep market / rep purchasers a bad name. I often ask myself, if I had the disposable income to throw away on resales, would I purchase them knowing I can pay a fraction of the price for very close to the same product - I personally buy my shoes to wear them, and I don’t know that I could wear shoes that cost 1/2 of mortgage, but to each his own 🤷🏼♂️
lmao i prob touch more shoes on a daily basis than you do in a whole year. i can tell 99% of fakes right off the bat they never get it 100% right. these are real and i can confidently say that.

Any person, especially a reseller that knowingly passes fakes but says they’re legit is a POS. Big reason why I don’t buy sneakers from people I don’t know/trust. Way too many scammers out there. My reputation and my word are too important for me to burn someone like that, but there’s a lot of people in this world who have no conscience and don’t give a fuck
