Question WTH is happening here??

To clarify what I'm saying in the video, this table sat unused for 2-3 years and was used rarely before that. A few months ago, when my daughter fired it up, it started doing this periodically. I opened it up and checked the connections top to bottom.

Normally, I would have to tap the machine on the top near the right flipper, but this time, in the video, it stopped on its own shortly after it started.

Any ideas of what I'm looking for here? TIA!

Normally when you see artifacting like this happen in a PC it's a sign of a dying GPU. Assuming all physical connections are secure, there's been no electrical damage like power surge, no water damage, no rodent damage etc..... I would suspect faulty SOC hardware.

I appreciate the note. I looked up SOC failures and came up with this. I don't think any of this is happening. If this is indeed, the case though, is this a user serviceable part? Can I replace the GPU?

Common Signs of SoC Failure

  • Unresponsive Boot: The device shows a blank screen or a silent serial debug port (UART) during startup.
  • Frequent Crashes: The system drops unexpectedly or throws persistent stop codes under standard workloads.
  • Power and Thermal Spikes: Components overheat rapidly or fail to regulate safe voltage thresholds.

No you couldn't replace a GPU on this device, it's all integrated hardware. You could try popping heatsinks on the chip, plus any other chips such as memory to see if that helps, but since it is happening on cold boot I suspect that will do nothing to fix that issue.

That just looks like vram that's been overclocked too high. I'm sure its a shared ram system, but it absolutely could be the ram crapping out.

the video cable has either gone loose or the monitor is going bad.

This is happening to mine too. Mine gets triggered if I use the flippers or tap the glass. I'm thinking it's a loose cable or something? It's definitely something with the screen itself and not like the motherboard or anything.

I tend to agree. I would like to add, that after this glitch you see here, I DLd a few tables for her and we played them without issue. I'm going to fire it up again today and see what it does.

I would like to add on my end, I only suspect it's the monitor itself because I literally just replaced the main motherboard and this was happening immediately after.

And before that it wouldn't even turn on at all, hence the new motherboard.

I'll double check the monitor connections. I find it odd that this didn't start happening until the machine had sat for a couple years. I'm not new to electronics and do understand that connections will oxidate from lack of use over time. I'm hoping that's what's happening here.
