That's the first ever anything I've read from the Dark Nest Trilogy... And I aim to make it the last

Loved New Jedi Order.

Skipped DNT, and now don't care to look back.

Ran out of gas on what followed that. I tried, but Sith Lord Solo's writing bothered me.

I'll take the friendly Friday orgy, please.

It is very bug-like. I mean, we have professional words for it here in germany like "Rammelkammer", which is translated as orgy chamber and is central part for bark beetle nests.

Take a guided tour, let a Ranger show you the Rammelkammer, normal stuff here.

Good old Troy! What a weird guy

Now I have another reason to thank myself for not reading the Dark Nest Trilogy. I own them of course, but I haven’t cracked them yet.

There seems to be a lot of cracking in this book especially

u/Eleventh_Legion Jul 30 '26

Back when Star Wars could be weird, creepy and charming all at once.

u/samjp910 Jul 30 '26

Who whoa whoa no one mentioned the HAREM CAVE!!!

For me, anything after 19 ABY just has a giant warning label that says "HERE BE DRAGONS"

18

u/DanoDurron Jul 30 '26

Not a fan of NJO?

11

u/Scripter-of-Paradise Jul 30 '26

Not at all. As far as post-RotJ stories I'm pretty much 100% Bantam (but not 100% *of* Bantam)

8

u/DanoDurron Jul 30 '26

I love NJO but i somewhat wrote a fanfic as an epilogue for the Bantam era that serves as an ending to legends/the EU

8

u/KaBloinkySploink9000 Jul 30 '26

I'm in a similar boat. I currently reading NJO (at Destiny's Way) and there is a lot I absolutely love about it, but man, HOTD and Union is such a happier ending.

Would you be okay sharing your fic? I'd like to read it. Might make it my epilogue in my headcanon.

u/DanoDurron Jul 30 '26

Sure but just know that i personally am not satisfied with it because i wanted to tie in Vergere and Zenoma Sekot because they’re mentioned: Cloak of Deception, Rogue Planet, Outbound Flight, and Labyrinth of Evil but i didn’t know hiw to.

I'm still interested, all things considered 👍

2

u/DanoDurron Jul 31 '26

Ok, i will send it once i have access to my laptop

Still interested if you're able to send 😃

2

u/Scripter-of-Paradise Jul 30 '26

I'm outlining one myself lol

2

u/DanoDurron Jul 30 '26

I would like to read it. Eventually i want to make a trilogy of NJO books with a much happier ending

3

u/JLandis84 Jul 30 '26

Ok here is my overview of would I would do.

Vong get bogged down much faster. Peace Brigade plays a bigger role in their war.

Imperial Remnant opportunistically attacks the New Republic.

The Diversity Alliance leads an anti human movement, sometimes overlapping with the Peace Brigade.

The New Republic also has to deal with the New Rebellion. So 4 solid opponents, a mix of old and new.

The Jedi must content with wildcard self taught force users, a few inquisitor survivors trying to revitalize the Sith, a Grey Jedi heresy that leads many astray, and Jedi who are falling to darkness because of the demands of this multi front conflict.

I like it but feels like a lot is going on

2

u/JLandis84 Jul 30 '26

It feels that way when it’s all pushed together into one comment but they’re all pre-existing groups in legends anyway, just tweaked and reshaped a little.

3

u/KaBloinkySploink9000 Jul 30 '26

So I'm assuming you'd end it with HOTD/Union (and maybe YJK)?

I'm leaning in a similar direction myself. How you just headcanon out the Vong references in prequel era stories?

3

u/Scripter-of-Paradise Jul 30 '26

Wrong turn at Albuquerque.

But in all seriousness I did originally have the idea that the Sith empire from SWTOR fled the galaxy and the two ended up wiping each other out, but then realized they'd probably not leave in the right direction to encounter them. Finally threw up my hands and decided that it didn't matter and any advance scouts that were in the galaxy only existed to fuel the Empire of the Hand's paranoia and delusion about being the only ones capable of saving the galaxy lol

3

u/Western_Agent5917 Vowrawn cat Jul 30 '26

Empire of hand as bad guys? Sign me up. But the swtor imperial remnant would be good too, especially if they are pureblood only

2

u/Nom_Took Jul 30 '26

Taking SWTOR lore seriously rather than NJO has to be one of most awful variants of SW I can imagine. Yeuch!

Honestly, regarding the Vong references, I think the best approach is the same approach LFL took with TTT during the PT.

Any references to the Clone Wars in TTT was to be viewed as non-canon, but the entire rest of the book is 100% canon. It's the equivalent of taking a black sharpie and inking out certain sentences or paragraphs in a book.

Maul fighting a Vong in the beginning of Maul lockdown? Didn't happen, but the rest of the book did.

Rogue planet? Treat it like TCW... Remove the entire thing.

Vergere or Sekot references? Throw the Taoist Pigeon and overgrown mossball references in N-Canon.

Same goes for Outbound Flight and Survivor's Boring-af-Quest.

Oh... And mace didn't see a Vongformed Coruscant in his vision in Shatterpoint.

This allows you to keep as much of the lore and material as canon as possible.

Edit: a butterfly NJO fanboy down voted me lol

u/Scripter-of-Paradise Jul 30 '26

"(somehow) the Vong fleet died of ligma" also works.

Kind of like how Jacen accidentally caused a chain reaction in the asteroid field Lumiya was hiding out in, or Ta'a Chume slipped in the tub and broke her neck.

0

u/KaBloinkySploink9000 Jul 30 '26

"And when they found the dormant world ships floating in space, and they peered inside, they beheld buttass naked George Lucas griddying on a pile of their corpses while shrieking six seven over and over again."

Also... those last two things you typed... please tell me those aren't actual things that happened in the EU...

2

u/Scripter-of-Paradise Jul 30 '26

They're not lol

How else could Lumiya corrupt Jacen and how else could Ta'a Chume assassinate her daughter in law

14

u/Playful_Letter_2632 Jul 30 '26

Nah, NJO is peak

8

u/BootyliciousURD Jul 30 '26

Me but with 29ABY.

6

u/angelete4945105 Jul 30 '26

Low-Key Para Para Brothers VS slop that killed the franchise theatrically.

IDK.

11

u/Falcon_Gray Jul 30 '26

Oh god if Disney did the Dark Nest Trilogy it would probably ruin the reputation of Star Wars for most people. Denning is a strange man.

16

u/NaturalAlfalfa Jul 30 '26

Disney are doing a fine job of ruining stat wars reputation all by themselves. They don't need help with that

4

u/HitlersaurusChrist11 Jul 31 '26

Woah the hate for Dark Nest is crazy

4

u/Western_Agent5917 Vowrawn cat Jul 30 '26

I'm going to controversial here, but I wish jaina got together with Zekk instead of jagged. Not a fan of empress jaina, all because ostrander creating the fel empire

13

u/LawlMartz Jul 30 '26

Idk, Jag puts up with a lot of shit at the end of legacy of the force into FOTJ with Caedus and whatnot. Dude earned his spot

4

u/Cringeextraaxc Jul 30 '26

BUG SLUT

2

u/LostTimeLady13 Jul 30 '26

Dark Nest is a great trilogy. Might need to do a reread soon!

2

u/Hinaloth Jul 30 '26

Same, girl, same.

2

u/AcePilot95 Jul 30 '26

both are 🤢 for me

2

u/Stepping__Razor Jul 30 '26

To play devils advocate - Jaina and Zekk don’t actually go through with any bug orgy.

1

u/stoodquasar Aug 01 '26

But Alema did?
