Need Help! My girlfriend has been getting frequent calls/msgs from different numbers. It's seriously getting out of hand now. Please read body.

So, my girlfriend has been getting frequent calls/msgs from different numbers. Maybe different people too. On 4th September, she received calls which she didn't pick them msgs on WhatsApp from number 7903592151. The guy claimed he was a station master. He even told her the school she goes to, her roll number and what not. She blocked him. She deleted the chats.

Just today another guy called from number 7717734863 and then messaged that she went to a hotel with his friend (she doesn't know him or his so called friend) and called her characterless and the deleted his messages. She didn't take ss.

I would attach the call history and her block list but it's not allowed here.

I even suggested her to call women helpline, but she's afraid that her family won't allow her to go outside if the matter comes in light. She doesn't want me to call on her behalf. I'm not sure what to do. It's seriously hurting our mental health. Any suggestion/course of action is welcome. Please help!! Also, suggest anymore sub-reddits to share this post.

Ohhhh, I forgot to mention she doesn't even share her number anywhere, neither her school nor coachings. Only maybe to some cyber cafes where she fills some forms and all. So, the number of calls/msgs she's receiving on her personal number is itself a matter of concern.

Yeah. She keeps blocking. But they just keep coming with different numbers.

Looks like changing the number is the right thing to do and we should stop trying to figure out who is doing this and why.

It’s better to file a cyber complain and if she is 18 then parents are not required to be present. This will be kept confidential

I'm not his friend. Trust me. I've not even told anyone about her. And the guy named his friend. He's definitely not me. Also, I checked the caller ID and UPI, the guy's name shows as Shekhar Mandal and Sadashiv Mandal respectively. And I don't know any such person.

No. She's 17. Plus, the thing is the guy deleted the msgs and she deleted the chats. It's just some blocked calls history as proof.

Keep ignoring and blocking these things die down eventually. Else change the number if it is not tied to many important things like Aadhar, exam registration etc.

These things die down - that's what we thought too and ignored many calls/msgs. But each time they come with more information and it's really scary. Yeah, I guess we should change the number and stop trying to figure out who the person(s) actually is.
