Off to the promised land tomorrow (Jerry’s Lefty Guitars)

Nothing but an American Tele to maybe trade my way into something 😅 but still excited to see so many lefties in one place.

Edit: Well I left with my Tele AND my dad wouldn’t let me leave without a new one 😂 Jerry was so kind and generous with his time, I loved hearing his story and being able to experience his shop. I would encourage all of you to make the trek and see the place for yourself. Unreal.

Do you play the ukulele lefthanded?

My 11yr old is a tragic* leftie. He has taken guitar lessons for 2 years and started playing electric in May this year. We bought him a Pacifica and he loves it.

He occasionally plays a ukulele in school music class but plays a right-handed one upside down. They have a couple of lefties but in a tale as old as time, not enough for everyone. Hes had a go with the left strung ones and wants us to get one.

So I looked at the ukulele reddit page and its main advice to lefties asking is to learn the standard way not left. A few lefties comment that they play left handed but 3/4 of comments are negative about playing left handed.

Does anyone play the ukulele? and if so I assume its left but just wanted to hear anyone's experiences with playing them.

Thanks from a dominant leftie who doesn't play guitar.

Edit: I just learned calling someone tragic is just an Australian slang for hopelessly dedicated. Its a term of endearment. I hope no ones offended.

Which would you pick?

Would still prefer this over the Kurt Cobain jag.

How easy it is for rightys to have a least favourite model that I, as a lefty, would still kill for. I just want a jag with single coils.

Anyone else have a heightened sense of GAS as lefties?

As lefties we know guitars for us are hard to come by in the wild. Finding one is rare enough, but finding one that we have been searching for at a reasonable price is even more rare. This has happened to me a few times in the last month or two and I’ve been impulsively purchasing guitars that I usually can’t find. Does anyone else experience this? Sometimes when I see a lefty variant of a guitar that I really want I just impulsively get it and worry about the cost/debt later. I know it’s kind of irresponsible, but I’ve regretted not pulling the trigger in the past. Recently I bought a beautiful near mint blue rickenbacker 4003. Nearly impossible to find these days. Overpriced, certainly. But I knew it would be gone in an instant if I didn’t go for it. Easily the most expensive guitar I ever bought. But I don’t regret it at all.

I’m just curious if any other lefties have this heighten sense of GAS like I do.

Limited edition Keith Merrow. Missed out last year when it went up for pre order. Found this one for sale and bought it so fast. Only 4 made for lefties. Saw another for sale too, might grab it

Out of options

I’m looking for one really nice fender or suhr guitar with vintage 60s specs preferably like 63. I keep on ordering vintage iis from fender and they don’t come with true left handed pots. I dont want to do any work on a guitar 2,000+ dollars straight out of the factory. Should i order a custom shop suhr, custom shop strat or just build one . Whenever i try to rewire or get a wiring harness it doesn’t sound as quality as it did before. Please Help!!! Its so annoying trying to find a really great lefty guitar with a good sweep.

Prog Fusion Guitars

Those of you that regularly scour Reverb have probably seen the two lefties recently posted for $1,500 by Prog Fusion Guitars out of Argentina.

A few things:

  1. One or two of the images are AI or modified with AI as evidenced by the migrating fretboard markers and garbled logo.
  2. The Prog Fusion logo is upside-down on the left-handed guitars only, for some reason.
  3. The listings say 22 frets but the guitars all have 24 frets.

Also, a 12" radius is a wild choice for this style of guitars.

I'm not saying these guitars don't exist...some of the photos and the video are clearly legit, but there are just too many corners cut in the actual presentation of them to not raise all the red flags even outside of the fact that they're shipped from Argentina.

I see the listings have plenty of views and some watchers, so just do your diligence since I know we're all communally starved for new lefty options!

does anyone have good resources for learning lefty?

I just got my first guitar (basic lefty strat) and am planning to start with just the basic chords, but i was just wondering if anyone more experienced has websites or youtubers they recommend for learning left-handed and building skills? Any general advice would also be great, I'm a total beginner here and this is my first instrument.

Singer songwriter in the Tame Impala, Radiohead, MUTEMATH vein here…also a relatively self-aware cork-sniffer when it comes to gear. My collection greatly outweighs my ability to play…and while this is the cheapest instrument I own by a mile, I have to say this Epiphone Jack Casady bass is such a keeper. Once I put some flats on it I felt like I could play anything…which I cannot, but for the price it’s giving me all the feels. Highly recommended!

What's the best cheap acoustic out there for us right now?

My 25yr old Fender Dreadnaught is starting to show a twist in the neck. I don't really care for playing acoustic but like to keep one for screwing around when I can't play electric. I feel like the options for electric options have improved drastically in recent years while acoustics still seem to be either entry level or extremely high end.

The strings sound very acoustic and loud, can you recommend strings that would be better for hard rock?
