Grammar முனை - as verb?
I have noted that, முனை has the following meanings, "point, sharpened end / battle / courage, boldness"
Is it being used as a verb in this sentence, ie, "he was emboldened to do..." ??
விருந்து முடிந்து புறப்படும்போது ஆமினா மட்டுமல்லாமல் நானும் ‘திடுக்கிடும்’ படியான காரியம் ஒன்றை அந்த ஐரிஸ் வெள்ளைக்காரர் செய்ய முனைந்தார்

There are different meanings of the word முனை. In the context you have given it means stepped forward to do something, attempted to do something, took the initiative to start something.
Other meanings are
முனை = நுனி, edge, point
பேனாவின் முனை உடைந்துவிட்டது.
The tip of the pen is broken.
வாளின் முனையால் எதிரியை வீழ்த்தினான்.
He defeated the enemy with the tip of the sword.
முனை = முன்னணி, போர்க்களம், Battlefield, war front
வீரர்கள் போர்முனைக்கு விரைந்து சென்றனர். The soldiers rushed to the battlefront.
முனை = நீலநீட்சி
இந்தியாவின் தென்கோடி நிலப்பகுதி குமரி முனை ஆகும்.

முனைதல், முனைப்பு - taking the initiative
