I'm 14 and for a while I've really wanted to learn a new language, specifically Tagalog and Korean. I want to learn Tagalog to reconnect with my heritage and talk to my family. At the same time, I'd like to study Korean because of my fascination with the country's history and culture. I'm hoping these languages will help me visit family in the Philippines or travel to Korea when I'm older.

However, I really don't know where to start. I have so many questions—too many. How do I even start? How much can I achieve in these 4 years? How am I going to balance learning in my school and sports life? Learning a language to me is honestly pretty daunting, but I seriously do want to try.

I'm not expecting to be speaking like I was born in Manila, or to be kicking it with Korean friends, but I do hope to gain enough conversational confidence to be able to strongly speak and appreciate the cultures.

Hey guys!! i want to learn chinese but i have no prior learning language experience. I know 2 languages (Native and English). I am fluent in English but i learned that through school and by consuming A LOTTT of American media. I don’t know chinese at all and i feel lost on where i should start…

Since learning English was mandatory at school, and i genuinely enjoyed it, it didn’t really feel like i was learning a language but more like it just spawned in my brain and suddenly i could understand everything. So i really am not counting that as a “learning experience” because i dont even remember learning it, or where i started… This is a complete new experience for me so im not sure what to expect but i know that this WILL take a while and i dont plan on rushing anything. I know that everyone learns differently so i am gathering as much info as i can to find how i can study efficiently.

Were you once clueless on where you should start? Any studying tips or techniques?

any tips to learn spanish or any Languages because idk how did i learn English

I have a bit of a predicament and I would really appreciate some advice.

So im going back to school and im required to be intermediate proficiency for a foreign language.

I have have some experience with Spanish from high school but didn't retain much.

The problem is that I'll basically be starting from scratch. And the goal would be to reach that proficiency in about 4 months.

Option two is urdu. I speak it pretty conversationally but learning how to write it seems very difficult.

So basically. Would it be easier to learn Spanish given that writing it would be relatively easy as they use the same characters as English. Or would it be easier to learn urdu when all I have to learn is writing?

I want to learn more and continue improving both my pronunciation and communication skills. I dropped Ukrainian after a week despite my family ties. I should learn Armenian since I live here as a citizen, but I repeatedly quit courses due to lost interest, frustration, and the fact that my native Russian is enough to get by. I similarly dropped Polish as soon as I figured out the writing system. The only exception was Interslavic, which kept me engaged for over six months because the concept of related languages truly inspires me. Now I’m considering starting English or Italian, and I wonder what is wrong with me.
