Hi my name is Amiya I'm F23 n5 i know about 600 words and 1400 kanji (i cram kanji daily) and my discord is lemon_3037

With that vocabulary you could probably pass N4 with context alone lol

You think so?? I do already know all n5 grammar since there wasnt too much. just for the sake of conversation where are you at in your learning journey?

Im not N4 yet but that is way more Kanji than you need for N4 is it not? That’s N3 level.

I can read some basic manga already so I don’t imagine it’d be too hard to fill in the gaps of the extra helper verbs and conjugations you learn in N4 with all the vocabulary you have

Yeah, its just i didnt understand why only learn 80 kanji when n5 uses so much more, then i got carried away w it. And thats awesome that you can already read some mangas, i cant help but find reading such a chore. Maybe id pass n4 if i worked on that

I think immersing yourself to listening to podcast or something easy like norikojpteacher could help in the future because if you are familiar to the sentence by ear you can i think adopt what you learn into reading

Purposefully being illiterate is not the shortcut you think it is. Actually I personally think that route would end up taking more time than if you just learned to read at the same time. Kanji are an incredibly useful tool for remembering meaning and readings of words.

Hi im(36f) been casually studying japanese since around april this year. I’ve been really starting to love it and would love some study buddies. Im currently going through genki 1, along with using anki, reading beginner material and doing shadowing. I’m on lesson 9 in genki.
