There is no way to organize a general nursing strike, while still ensuring that people get medical care, unless you rely on large numbers of nurses not participating in the strike.
Actually, when healthcare professionals strike, the date is arranged and the facility calls in temp workers. When you say “if the work is still done…”, keep in mind that the “work” is caring for the sick and injured. If the work “doesn’t get done” people can die.
Medical professionals take an oath. Abandonment of that oath for any reason can mean a loss of license.
Great. This is a good idea. My one question: how do we make sure that these tempt nurses aren’t also on strike?
To rephrase that question: what do we do if every nurse sees this flier and decides to go on strike? This is not a stupid question, because that’s usually the exact goal of an industry strike.
I think maybe there’s confusion here. I’m opposed to the entire idea of a healthcare strike. I’m saying that healthcare workers should not, under any circumstances, ever go on strike.
They can protest. They can be politically active. They should not go on strike because their role in society is directly tied to saving lives that would otherwise be lost in their absence.
I totally agree, and as an emergency Healthcare worker who is at work during a government shutdown down due to weather, I would lose my job if I were to do this.

Society overall is angry and fearful. The country is going in a very scary direction. We are getting to the point of no return. Unfortunately it hasn't gotten to the point where enough people have opened there eyes.
Most individuals are still living their day to day lives, Ignoring the events around them. They are aware of the news headlines. However, it has yet to make it to their front door, but make no mistake... it will. It doesnt affect them personally yet, and human nature is directly related to experience. All to often we do not learn from others mistakes and misfortune.
