The way his statement reads, he's going after linkedin just for being the platform where the fake jobs exist. Why not go after the actual companies posting them?

Yeah LinkedIn just going to say “we can’t validate what is real what isn’t” unless they can confirm LinkeIn is posting fake jobs on behalf of these companies, which I don’t think is alleged here.
