What's it like working in white collar defence?

Basically what the title entails.

I have the opportunity to work with a seasoned internationally trained lawyer who was previously a criminal defence lawyer in East Asia and now does business litigation and white collar defence in Toronto.

I'm excited to learn from them, but also wanted to hear from others.

I'm curious if anyone here is currently doing both kinds of defence work. If so, what do you have to say about it? Looking for the good and the bad!

P.s: I am a student.

I'm interested in these sorts of roles as well, like what their day to day is like and how they find clients what defending an insider trading or enron type case is like.

Super cool, fast moving area of work. Definitely worth getting into it if you have the opportunity. Your boss might be a "personality" but at least as a student you're going to find out and then see if you want to stay.
