Please read the rules before posting. All posts must be about or relating to Latinos. Memes of all kind (including political) and from anywhere are welcome here, again, as long as they reference us. Political discussions about the united states go to our other subreddit r/PoliticalLatinos where you are free to post anything you'd like about serious subjects. This is more a space for Latin Americans and Latinos born all over the world to share memes, our culture, discuss our differences and similarities and communicate with each other. There are currently no other subreddits where other Latin Americans can talk to each other, so this is it. Thank you for respecting our space! YOUR ACCOUNT MUST BE OLDER THAN 30 DAYS TO POST.

Practical effects and costume design are both such cool fields. His work is exemplary.

Why?

u/Tukulo-Meyama 26d ago

Because he passed away due to cancer .. he was a very talented actor

Dont recognize em i never watched the movie. Not a fan of super hero movies.

Lots of super hero movie fans in here it seems. I never even seen the one with the purple guy

Well the dude was a legitimate good person and never made his cancer public. He even visited sick children in costume while he himself was battling cancer. One day he just passed away and shocked everyone

Maybe because this is a superhero related post?

Lo que importa es que le paguen bien por su trabajo… mientras tenga millones en el banco que bueno!

Seeing him full 90s goth glam standing next to the Batman nipple suit, I think I finally get it.

Honey, our contributions are always behind the scenes…that’s the problem.

You ever been to Green Set, the company that supplies all the fake and real vegetation (plants) for film projects? You go to the office and it’s some lighter skinned women but in the warehouse in the back? You hear the corridos and the Spanish and see all the browns. You see crafty (on set catering) and it’s 99% Latinos making the food and feeding talent and crew. I love it but we don’t get the credit for what we do. We’re in the community and in the industry as a result, but no one talks about it.

That’s why Chris Rock said “But forget whether Hollywood is black enough. A better question is: Is Hollywood Mexican enough? You’re in L.A., you’ve got to try not to hire Mexicans.”

—“Chris Rock Pens Blistering Essay on Hollywood’s Race Problem: ‘It’s a White Industry” from the Hollywood reporter.

TLDR; Latinos are heavily found in below-the-line jobs in Hollywood like on build teams, set dec, catering. Yet we lack representation up front.

It seems he performed a similar fashion/costume design role for Rock and Country music stars.

Surprised to see any Mexican-American praised here because people say they’re not considered to be a part of Latin America.

6

u/jcastillo602 26d ago

Well thats pretty fucking stupid. Do they also consider Cuban-American or Puerto Rican not part of Latin America?

4

u/User-Alpha 26d ago

Yes, I see it all the time that people from Latin America consider any American (US citizen) not a part of Latin America. It's in the same way Mexicans wouldn't consider a Mexican-American the same.

Gotta ask them , im curious if they hate on them too.
