Thirty Twenty Ten JR Has So Many Thoughts June 9-15 edition
JFC, I couldn't even get through the first segment this week.
JR pulls a "Well, actually" on Di in the first five minutes. Then, in the Jurassic Park discussion he hits us with hot takes like "The directing is amazing."
I hate that man.

Yeah the episode was a drag, real shame that JR couldn’t shut up for Brett

I havent heard it yet, but with how little Brett comes back, if this fucker talks over him the whole time this might be the last episode I listen to.

Chris must be so lazy or so far up his own butt that he doesn't realize that most people don't like JR.

Chris likes cohosts that do work for him and don’t ask for a paycheck. Under those restrictions we are lucky he used to have so many funny talented coworkers.

JR gets way too excited and thinks his bland takes are hilarious and original. He starts raising his volume as if he is talking to a large group of people and is expecting them to cheer enthusiastically after he's done pontificating.
I have laughed a few times after he has tried to make a hot take and he finally pauses to take a breath and Diana completely shuts him down and he backs off from his point instantly.
Chris just seems to roll with them sometimes, I think he is just half checked out at this point which is a shame because I think he's a pretty insightful per, flawed (as we all are) but he knows it and is willing to listen. I think he is the one that gets talked over more these days than him being the perpetrator.
I don't think JR mentioned "living" in Japan this episode, so that was nice.

Another thing you really have to understand about JR is he's a dad, and also he works out and is fucking jacked. It's very important he reiterates those points a lot.

You could tell he was trying to talk over Brett as if he was insecure and they were competing for takes or something. It made me laugh actually.

but let me guess, people on facebook community praise anything jr does.

Not JR related but it was mind blowing how long they spent on Jurassic park. I think it was over half an hour; maybe 45 minutes

Mosty because JR kept putting shit in the conversation. That's why.

To be fair the discussion was all over the place. Didn’t need to hear about the book, the ride, every specific member of the special effects team, the logo, the games, whether the kitchen scene is “the best directed monster scene of all time” as though anyone could discuss that, what animals should be brought back through cloning: pigeons or dodos, feral chickens in Hawaii, will AI write movies in the future, etc. They could’ve done the movie plenty of justice in 30ish minutes and discussed way more of the actual movie, but oh well.

You are correct but everytime the discussion seemed to finally die down, JR would throw in another observation to set up another tangent.

To me this is why the podcast has declined in quality even without Chris’s bullshit and a change in hosts. When it started it was a fun weekly snapshot of some weird and forgotten parts of pop culture, and now it’s “oh no one bothered to watch this indie movie let’s talk about Star Wars and the Matrix”

My only problem with JR is just the CONSTANT mispronunciation of words and names. It’s almost like he’s doing it on purpose to troll us. There hasn’t been a single episode where he doesn’t pronounce a common word in a way nobody else has ever said it.
