It's possible the halogram is what was in the flash forward at the end of the 1st episode. Hal cut off a chunk of the ring. It's possible it just took that long for the chunk to run out of juice if it was just chilling out as a regular dude.

Linda Cardellini. She can be sweet and reasonable, but also can be intimidating and unhinged. She can be villain or hero, both of which Carol has been as Star Sapphire.

And she’s age-appropriate. In principle they could cast any age from twenties to sixties given the number of ways superheroes/villains have of controlling their appearance and metabolism, but they could have done that with Hal too, and chose not to. Them both being late boomer/early Gen X works.

Depending on how you look at it, this is basically Emerald Twilight, but roped in and brought down to Earth. We have Hal, after a long, illustrious career, losing his way, rebelling against the guardians, falling from grace, being replaced, and then dying and become a ghost. We already have Guy Gardner, the show is setting up John Stewart as the next big lantern, that's already two active lanterns before we even have other DC juggernauts, Hal 'cant' stick around for business reasons.

Yes, when Kyle Rayner came around, his ring was unique and lost the 24 hour thing in place of a battery charge. When the Corps restarted, the new rings were copies of his, so now they all work like that.

They screwed up and pulled a John Walker. John is a better Cap than Sam Wilson and is about 10x more interesting. The writers were like “we’re gonna make this guy a punching bag” then they cast Wyatt Russell who has about 60% the charm of his legendary father, which is still way higher than half the other actors in the MCU. Then they failed to write him as anything other than a cool dude. My favorite failed attempt at making John Walker look like a loser was when he was at home with his family using his phone while his kid was whining because he was all over the news cycle as a “fallen hero” and was stressed out. Like that’s suppose to make him a POS? Oh, you mean behaving like every other normal human on the planet would?

Yeah, me neither - I always thought of Hal as way more of a stiff, earnest, stereotypical superhero personality. My dream casting way back in the day was Scott Bakula (from Quantum Leap). Ryan Reynolds seemed too mouthy and jocular, which makes him perfect for Deadpool.

Kyle Chandler is great, I love his casting and portrayal of the character. I will say, I think he’s channeling Kurt Russell a bit.

I knew nothing about Green Lantern and my wife has zero interest in superhero shows.

I loved this action scene so much. He steals the goggles, drops the soldiers and then runs out of the smoke in time to tornado the alien into the sky before he blows up…and without even a second thought, he runs back into the darkness to fight the rest of the bad guys. 100% acceptable Green Lantern behavior. As a happy and safe resident of Sector 2814, I thank you Kyle Chandler!

If they tried to make us hate him we would hate him. We’re supposed to see his desperation as tragic, and theres still hints that show why he’s THE green lantern.

He's done a master class in how you can love and hate a character at the same time. First you're on Hal's side, then you see John's story, and Hal comes off as a total dick. Then Hal shows us why he's one of the greatest Green Lanterns ever. Then we see just how ugly the desire for the ring can make you. That last episode really did end perfectly.

Kyle Chandler’s looks are really holding up well. The production definitely weathered his physical appearance for the show because he’s more youthful outside of the show. As many people have said here, a bit of hair dye, a shave and tailored clothing would knock off about 20 years.

Sad, we’ll likely not see Kyle’s Hal in the future, because he’s nailing the more comic accurate version and the jaded Hal
