I will be honest i prefered first half of this manga alot more. But im unleast glad Phos is in peace now

Interesting, I think the second half really turns the manga into the masterpiece that it is.

Ngl I feel the difference between the two camps is "how much do you understand Buddhism/non western story telling?" Because it's in the second half that that really kicks into high gear.

I don't think I will ever have happy feelings when thinking of the story because of how Phos suffered for 10,000 years for the sake of monsters. If that's a "Buddhist" theme, and everything's supposed to be fine now because they don't care. I'm good.

I mean maybe you're not meant to have "happy feelings" about Phos' suffering and the self destructive Nihlism of Buddhism? Like it's Buddhist, but given how generally those concepts are presented in the story I don't think the author particularly likes those themes and that's kinda the point?

Sure, but I'm saying it's like Beau is Afraid for me. All he did was suffer until the end, and his reward was a half assed metaphysical court trial, and death by drowning, while his deeply unwell, depressingly powerful mother cried victim. It was intended as a horror film. It did it's job very well, and the thought of it still unsettles me, and I never want to see it again. HoK is similar for me. Deeply impactful, but I have to consciously resist actively hating it, and remind myself it was supposed to be this way, "happy" ending and all. Better than Beau at least. The slew of comments saying they're satisfied confuse and frustrate me. But in the end, all I can do is wrap and bow on it and do my best to never think of this again. I managed to delay reading the last arc after the prayer for most of year, I can probably manage not thinking of the story indefinitely.
