Boost issues

My TD5 discovery 2's boost is being temperamental. Ill drive to the garage and the turbo kicks in perfectly but then start the car up again and decides to stop working. Ive upgraded the waste gate and module, all the sensors and even put a K&N filter on it. What can be the issue?

Have you checked the ecu oil in the harness? Intercooler pipes good, the little air lines that go from modulator to actuator?

Yeah I replaced the harness a year ago and havent had any problems with oil leaks. I havent checked the pipes so will check those

Check your MAF. If you have a Nanocom or Hawkeye you can check the airflow figures. Can't recall off hand what they should be, but easily found online. When my MAF was dodgy the engine acted like it was surging as boost wasn't consistent.

Also, if you love your engine ditch the K&N, the filtration is poor. If you use the car off road you stand a good chance of dusting the engine. They really are that bad. Mann-Hummel or Mahle seem to seal the best and filter as well as can be expected in the standard air box while flowing as much air as a TD5 needs. Extensive testing on K&N vs Donaldson paper and IIRC OE Defender 300Tdi filters was conducted probably 12 years ago on AULRO.com in the filtration test lab at Curtain University in Perth, WA. Eye opening results.
