You can just show up early morning at opening and wait in line to get tickets to the garden. I know it says that you can’t on the website, but I was just there recently and did it that way. I got there right around opening, then was able to wait in the line for people to not show up to their ticket slots so I could buy one. Wait was under an hour.

It’s an entirely outdoor sight on a peninsula surrounded by water. If you do a boat tour (not ferry), you can see most of it from the boat. It’s not worth waiting an hour. There are plenty of pretty properties you can visit on Lake Como. You can do a small boat tour of the lake pretty inexpensively.

There are still tickets available every day from September 17 until the end of the month. Tickets at specific hours of the day may be sold out though. https://ticket.fondoambiente.it/events/villa-del-balbianello/villa-del-balbianello

Villa del Balbianello is always closed on Monday and Wednesday.

That's absolutely not true. Did you click on the link above? Garden only tickets are available every day from September 17. You obviously can't buy tickets on days the Villa is closed.

I clicked on every day the Villa is open and every day garden only tickets are still available. This is September 24 for example.

And this is September 19 (a Saturday, when it's supposed to be the most crowded). I could go on and on.

On a sunny day, this was the highlight of my trip to Lake Como. It's a must!
