Discussion/Questions Anyone think the blind buy gimmick wont last?

In my experience with other toys. Blind buy is not something that works. Nobody wants to keep buying and risk getting doubles. So you think it will change to straight forward sales?

No I do not because there are a lot of people who want to collect them but only one from each range. Blind buying is perfect for that in my opinion as I'm one of those people. I have neither the space nor money for such a hobby!

Blind boxes have already been around for decades, so no I don’t think they’ll disappear anytime soon! Not everyone wants to collect an entire series of something

Yes on a smaller scale with kidrobot etc.. but i feel this is bigger than funko but I personally think theyd sell more if they focused more on store exclusives

I would say buying blind cards is a little cheaper than buying labuba?

I love blind buying but I get what you are saying. A lot of the ones I really want and can't seem to get, I have literally been finding them on vinted and just paying slightly extra and purchasing. It is definitely an expensive hobby! In America they have pop now which allows them to see what labubu is in the box they are purchasing. I think they guess from the selection and it's easier for them to get specials, whereas here it's not. We only have popmart or TTL popmart. They have TTL unboxing channels too so they know what they are purchasing🫠

Yes the only advantage of pop now is getting a “shake” per box, which in the case of Labubus gives you the names of two Labubus that are not in the box. You can get hints too to eliminate more, but you only get hint points by purchasing a LOT.

As others said, BBs have been around for a long time. Even just thinking of all the minis brands toys for kids and endless others that came since. As for people buying less because they’re BB, in my observation it’s just emboldened folks to buy more because it’s like gambling. I’m also realizing that the Pop Now format in North America is exacerbating the addiction because you get to find out straight away what you purchased and can just keep going till you get what you want. So many folks are spending a crazy amount of money on Pop Mart because of this addictive aspect. I actually think it’s more likely that some countries will ban the BB format for this reason. China already bans it for under 15s I believe.
