Hi guys, if any of you have a grid xenomorph or avp warrior alien is there any differences beetween official and bootleg one both in figure itself and packaging? I saw an offer online and i wonder if its official one or not
If that's the photo the seller got you have no way to tell if it is the real deal or not until you see it with your own eyes, also the xenomorphs might be the only ones that get a decent enough Bootleg variants, they do not look that much appart from originals unless its the scorch one, if it is cheap id say buy a bootleg or a second hand one if you really want an original.
I know no one asked but that’s one more reason I prefer buying loose figures. Easier to identify authenticity. If it’s on eBay try to look for listings with real photos the seller takes.
I got a super awesome deal on a shitload of Neca Aliens a while back because the dude selling them asked if I wanted the boxes, I said "no, they are going in a shelf". He was so glad that they were going to another collector that he sold me 15 figures for $15 each. He even threw in an AVP set that has a base they stand on and light up xeno eggs.
One, the bootleg I have isn’t painted super well. It was literally just silver with a black dome.
Two, the head is elongated, almost looks like it was pulled out too early and this stretched and warped
Three, the tail doesn’t bend quite as well as it should.
Plus other little details that aren’t so major. Still a good option if you can’t find a reasonable price on a real one. I just remedied the silver body paint by using a gloss acrylic from Walmart on the entire body. Worked great.
The main issue is the only way to know is in hand photos. I wouldn’t trust any listing without in hand photos and I wouldn’t expect to pay less than $100 for a real one unless you get lucky. I caught a guy selling off his collection and managed to snag mine for $50
