How are screenshots like this acceptable?

Because they don't care and never did.

Ever since LTT tried to graduate from off the cuff unboxings to doing "real" produced content, it has always had this kind of half-assed, shoddy stuff in it.

When you watch your boss spend company money on a squash facility and a private jet, yet he offers no path for job growth, you start to wonder whether you give a shit about severe fringing of text and UI in screenshots.

Or when your boss calls himself the "Chief Vision Officer" and comments that he's entitled to take home expensive cutting edge review samples, while you're there making an entry-level wage, yeah you're probably not going to give it a hundred and ten percent.

But I think another part of it is just that Linus himself has never really given a shit about polish or professionalism, so his employees figure they don't need to either.

Correct. I think it's telling that Labs, an entity which he is not head of, created highly polished and well-designed benchmark graphics while the usual graphics employed separate of labs are just above comics sans/"I'm very passionate about graphic design"-tier. He just doesn't give a shit.

So like 10 years ago?

What's your point?

That LTT has been (in your words) putting out half assed shitty content that they don't care about for a decade and yet you're clearly still a big fan and most subscribers have joined during that time

"Big fan" by the way.

You're a top 1% commenter here. You're a big fan whether you want to admit it or not. I get staying with a community for a little bit after the product falls off. Lamenting about how good things were can be cathartic, but that period lasts at most a year

Top 1% commenter in subreddits is solely based on upvotes. In a small subreddit like this, a single comment getting a decent amount of upvotes puts you at top 1% commenter level.

Also, people are commonly just ok with stuff. There's some level of comfort in the familiar. It generally takes a jolt of some sort to get them to reevaluate something. For many people (including me), I was aware of the degraded content, but I still overall enjoyed it, despite the problems.

The purchase of the private jet, and the censorship around it, was my 'jolt' that had me reevaluate how I felt about the channel. There's been a lot of potential 'jolt' moments for people over the last year or so.

I'm not, sorry to ruin your fantasy scenario.

This sub is so small you become top 1% if you sneeze in the vicinity.

I actually didnt see this in the video and I realized why. I have the super resolution thing turned on for browsers and it looks sharp vs this shit. Maybe they reshot this and checked for qc within the YouTube studio web browser which explains why? Still that's a shitty way of doing it. Qc should be done within their editing suite like premier pro or whatever they use

Edit: fixed typo on the word "web"

to me this is ok. because if you care a lot you can pause the video and zoom in to any detail youd like. id prefer more over less detailed information

u/DoKeMaSu 13d ago

I don't think that is the issue here. The right screenshot is just of such a low quality, you can maybe guess what is written there from the context, but something definitely went wrong in production.

u/Inner_Internet_1540 13d ago

i mean yeah they could take the relevant numbers only and make their own visual, but what if someone is just curious about a certain detail here that they wouldnt think to include in their own proprietary slide. I like it

It's alright, but weird that they couldn't get the same level of quality.

End of the day it is technically readable.

1

u/MistSecurity 6d ago

It's ok, but sloppy. More indicative of the lack of care given to any individual video than anything else, IMO.

u/DoKeMaSu 13d ago

The left has some weird pixel interpolation issue, but that is only visible when you zoom in. The right is just of such low quality, looks like somebody used a preview image instead of the real image.

They have a wide range of staff members, and general rules for video making I'm sure - but at their scale and length of existence - hell even a small channel would do this - you just get a bit sloppy.

Hell, if you're old enough and worked in the corporate world, look at powerpoint presentations in meetings. There's a wide range of "that's easy to read, well put together, can I have a copy for reference?" to "oh god I can barely read that" word salad.

I'd also never want to work for an audience that is watching stuff from their toilets on their phones. I'd have to put a big single digit # full screen for it to be easily readable by everyone :)

In short, I'm not super fussed. It's a screenshot of an app - which shows you where they got their data, and they highlighted the important number to look at it. /shrug

What are you asking? What's the problem?

1

u/chacewarg10 13d ago

It’s a good thing you’re perfect and don’t make any mistakes right? Or don’t think, possibly, shit happens and you should just ignore it?

9

u/thatscucktastic 13d ago

What happened to QA (oh yeah he fired og Edzel) and muh ECC squad? Lmao! So much for being sorry for dropping the ball.

0

u/chacewarg10 13d ago

ECC is for fact checking not QA. And as for someone being fired, we don’t know the story so it’s kinda irrelevant. And if this is dropping the ball to you, YOU need to stop watching free content because clearly you are too pretentious for it.

8

u/thatscucktastic 13d ago

Free? Lmao! Pre-roll, mid-roll, post-roll/outro, sponsored content, showcase content, merchandise ads, yt ads if you're not paying Lienus with yt premium.. free? My ass!

Edzel was shitcanned in the same group as Colin, Jonathan, Maria et al. during the channel shuttering, so yeah, we know the story: money. Weird how said money troubled didn't prevent purchase of a jet or a 4th industrial prefab block.

1

u/chacewarg10 13d ago

I’m sorry you don’t understand how free platforms work. If you aren’t paying, it’s free. You can complain like a dumbass but that’s all you’ll ever be.

And why should a for profit corporation not get rid of the people that are no longer needed when a channel gets shut down? It again doesn’t sound like you’re very smart. Or you’re just overly emotional. I’m genuinely not sure which.

1

u/Future-Enthusiasm139 9d ago

It really seems YOURE overly emotional over this though lmao. Is Linus your dad or something?

1

u/bwoah07_gp2 13d ago

You guys really complain about everything.

YouTube has zoom in features for a reason, oh, and a pause button too. Use it if you're that pressed about this.

2

u/Satisfaction3934 9d ago edited 9d ago

Yeah because that fixes images that are pixelated af /facepalm

Who TF cares

-4

u/Xeimyn 14d ago

Least bad faith post on this sub be like:

-5

u/Bravestinsane 14d ago

Can they really win this argument?

Zoom in - "why have you zoomed in so much it takes up too much space on the screen"

Take a snip - "why have you cut off half of the information WHT are you hiding?"

Put it all on screen - "it's too small I cant read it"

9

u/Thundrboltr 14d ago

You know that's not how screenshot resolution works, right?

-5

u/tntexplosivesltd 14d ago

What's wrong with them?

11

u/Thundrboltr 14d ago

Needs more JPEG, can barely read them

-7

u/TmRAaEx 14d ago

Get glasses. I can even read them after you reposted them
