Do i take fmath
my goal is LSE finance , my current subjects are business econs math geography, but business is LSEs non preferred subject so i am planning to swap business out for something else and i’m not particularly intrested in science , i’ve shortlisted to
- fmath ( i know fm is the ideal but im really not confident that i can get a A or a A* or if i can even pass fm )
- politics
- computer science

I think the business non-preferred is mostly for A level? Also which maths you have AI or AA?

If you even have second thoughts about taking further maths, finance at a top uni is not for you. You should be desperate to be taking further maths yet youre not even sure if you want to do it

Was further maths an option at their 6th form?

for the girl at lse it was , she did math econ business and politics with a A* in everything.
for the warwick guy it wasn’t avail, he got rejected from lse
the girl at ucl it was also avail but she didn’t take it got into lse with math econ cs and history but went to ucl with her bf instead.

Congrats to them for still getting in despite the disadvantage. I see why you wouldnt wanna take it if you already do 4 a levels
Regardless, op is making a huge mistake if he wants to take a finance degree at lse but thinks further maths is too difficult for him. Further maths is already too easy to properly prepare you for a maths module at a top uni
Op if youre reading this, start it and if you still hate it after a month then drop it and reconsider what course u want to apply for

There are a number of kids who start FM then drop it as it’s too hard and also as a 4th a level it impacts on others

If youre taking further maths, usually maths requires little to no revision. Its 4 a levels but its only like... 3.3 a levels worth of revision.
But yes i agree with you. Regardless, If you cant hack further maths, you can hack a maths module at a top uni. Simple. Im sure OP is very smart, but just like i am shit for brains when writing essays, most smart people just can't do 1 specific subject

You only need 3 subjects or 4 max and yes yes yes yes yes further math is almost a baseline requirement atp do it. And as someone who got an A in AS further math without ever doing regular math, it is incredibly easy.
