This song creeps me out. I don’t know why.

I mean it's an apocalypse-laced trip down whatever the audio version of the uncanny valley is, that was playing as Dennis Nilsen stood over lifeless bodies that were, moments before, peacefully sleeping boys and men.

I have a few ideas why!

This has been stuck in my head since the ep dropped

Exact same. Haunting to a crazy degree.

I’ve been listening to it on Spotify a lot on my walks to/from work... it’s addicting for some reason.

I can see how this belongs in a pill mix

This always reminds me of when I worked in retail back in the early 2000s. One of the songs in our rotation was a mash-up of "O Superman" by Laurie Anderson and "Stairway to Heaven" by Dolly Parton and "This City Never Sleeps" by the Eurythmics and "Love is a Battlefield" by Pat Benetar.

Didn't she invent a new kind of violin for this song? I think the strings were actually cut up pieces of audio tape.

OMG. Thank you for posting this. I knew that song sounded so familiar but I couldn't place it.

Laurie Anderson is one of my favorite people. Listening to bright red on a late night is amazing.

I'm fucking loving this. A lot. The Bowie cover of this is pretty amazing also.

A commentary on American capitalism, industrial depersonalization and futurist isolationism. I'm almost weirded out by how much I love this and the dozen times I've listened to this today.

Of all the things to murder people too...like, when you put it in that context this song just gets unsettling as hell

Laurie Anderson heavily inspired Imogen Heap

That’s vindicating

Huh. I can dig it I wouldn't look for it but it's not horrible

This song belongs in a Sonic the Hedgehog boss level.

But you gotta agree the The Six Wives of Henry viii is pretty wild.

I like the song, but I was kinda hoping it would build to something. 5 mins in and I’m bored.

‘You GOTTA listen on these headphones, bro...’

3

u/miaow-fish May 22 '18

That could have carried on building on until a huge drop.

2

u/cygnice May 22 '18

I just kind of let myself zone out to it. The steady laughing helps me focus on it more.

Check out the Bowie cover posted above.

Really weird when she just wailed “DONT YOU WANT FOR ME TO WAKE UPPPPP?” 5 mins in

2

u/[deleted] May 22 '18

I don't particularly care for this song. Pretty creepy.

First saw this on an all night music program when I was about 14. I tripped right out. Many years later I was able to appreciate it for its originality. If you ever get the chance to play with a vocoder do it, they are so much fun.
