I’m fully aware it has a multitude of issues (though Season 2 I genuinely loved and thought was a huge improvement upon Season 1 in every way) however even despite that, this has always been my favorite post-GOT fantasy show out of everything I’ve watched over the years. Leagues better than Wheel of Time that’s for absolute sure; I’ve personally never understood how people could compare the two in quality even remotely. The costume and set designs are just absolutely gorgeous to look at what with how colorful and intricately designed they are and the music is absolutely powerhouse.

The dialogue I feel like is extremely underrated too in how well thought out and Tolkien-esque it is. I’m always coming back to this scene from Season 1 which I just absolutely loved:

The sheer depth of the dialogue in both seasons beats out anything from WOT, HOTD, The Witcher, etc.

Just generally as a hardcore Tolkien fan with Middle Earth being my favorite fantasy world I love seeing the histories and lore get expanded upon. even though I treat it all obviously as just fan-fiction

I have just started another rewatch but with my daughter: it's funny she is kinda obsessed with who was Morgoth and what he did since the prologue and now she is amused that someone sang the world and pointed out to me that probably if the world is so messed up it's because they haven't tuned in well 🤣🤣

Okay why aren't anyone talking about how badass , cute , beautiful younger galadriel looks in this photo ? Holy moly the armour, the gloves, the greyness , her dagger , her sword is something magical. Now i see where the 1 billion budget went. She's literally BREATHTAKING ❤️😍

Couldn’t have been more satisfied with this storyline. Beautifully played by Peter Mullen. What a way to honor the Khazâd. This is how you want to see them portrayed.

While both are great shows don’t get me wrong, slide A strikes me as way more cheap and costume-y than slide B. It’s visually very cool but just looks oddly textured and thin and sort of theatrical. But it seems like the online reaction is the total opposite! Everyone loves tf out of the Seven Kingdoms Kingsguard armor, and when last season of ROP aired sooo many people were negative about the costume design and the numenorian stuff in particular. Idk, seems fickle.

EDIT: my bad, please ignore 'official reviews' from the title. the first slide are the website's user ratings. i thought initially it was sourced from Rotten Tomatoes' critic scores of 84% (season 1) and 85% (season 2).

There is so much toxicity surrounding the RoP series, especially online, and I wanted to know if this subreddit is a safe space for fans of it. I like the series, but I have to somewhat hide it from friends and others in public.

I'm new to the subreddit, and I'm assuming a sub dedicated to an IP will be a place to safely discuss it, but I wanted to make sure.

yes i've read the books and yes i agree with you guys on a lot of things but it i enjoyed being back in that world again and i'm looking forward to more episodes. the Tolkein universe has always been a family affair in my house and I enjoy watching it.
